2006 Mercedes Sprinter 2WD

Hello fellow travelers!

Up for sale is our trusted custom camper van that we have come to know and love as the ‘Pinecone Palace’. It is a hard decision to let it go but we are settling into a new chapter and putting down some roots. This thing has many more years and miles to go. It is currently at 317,000 but don’t let that scare you, these things commonly go for 500-700,000 miles or even more. We just had it fully inspected at Sprinter Werks in Portland and did all the recommended work.

THE VAN: It is the original T1N Mercedes Sprinter. The one with the sought after 5 cylinder diesel engine (gets nearly 25mpg on the highway). We have had it for three years and traveled all over the country and into Mexico twice. It has been super reliable and never let us down. We have kept up on it mechanically and just put a bunch of work into it to get it ready for the next happy campers. This thing runs like a champ with a flawless turbo. The transmission is only 50,000 miles old and there are no oil leaks. I have replaced the EGR, O2 sensor and MAF all recently to keep it running smooth. All new glow plugs. Just replaced the exhaust manifold gasket which is something that goes bad at the high miles and can be tricky and expensive, so it’s smooth as it has ever been post work up at Sprinter Werks. Almost new brakes and brand new set of tires with a spare to match. Just before we bought it in 2023, OG owner put 15,000$ was put into it with the transmission, upgraded suspension and all new fuel lines etc. We have all the paperwork. It was rhino coated at that time as well so it’s tough. The rig is ready to roll today.

BUILD OUT: The build out was done by a surfer/solar tech in Santa Cruz about 5 years ago. It’s really beautiful woodwork with cedar/birch and redwood.

-AC blows cold up front

-Large battery bank of 3 lithium batteries fed by 4 solar panels mounted on the roof. The electrical system is super nice with off switches etc

-Has shore power hookup as well which comes in handy

-Dometic fridge/freezer combo that runs of DC power and is super efficient

-Two burner induction stove

-Hot water heater

-Deisel heater

-40 gallon water tank with heavy duty filtration system.

-Large Steel tub sink with multiple faucet choices (good for a bird bath..)

-Composting toilet

-Big cozy bed with lots of storage underneath

-Great LED lighting through out with dimmer switch

-High quality inverter and lots of outlets and USB stations

-Tons of cabinets and storage space throughout

-Two roof vent Fans. One of which you can have open in the rain

-And other things I am sure I am forgetting..

QUIRKS:

-It has two slider doors but the one behind the sink is bolted shut two years which wouldn’t be a hard fix if you wanted and then you could shower outside from the sink sprayer.

-The windshield is cracked (a pebble in Baja!) but it’s along the bottom so never bothered us.

-In general it has some ‘character’ because of its age but it is truly solid rig. Whoever gets this thing is gonna have a great time in it. *Listed in Portland but currently in Otis, OR (on the coast) Willing to meet up or deliver wherever within reason.
