Great Van Life Starter Build (2018 Ford Transit High Roof)

This van is a hard one to let go of, but my life is no longer in a place that I can carry an extra vehicle. This is a partial build, but I was able to live in it full-time for a year and a half. I'm 6'2", but with the high roof I was able to stand comfortably and never feel cramped in the living space. I'm particular proud of the custom hardwood countertops with an epoxy finish. I designed my build for the purpose of urban van dwelling, with an emphasis on long-term storage space under the bed. I did have an emergency camper toilet, but mostly took advantage of public restrooms and a gym membership. The power station directly powers AC outlets throughout the living space. There is also a breaker box with DC circuits for the interior lights, ventilation fan, and a hook-up for a water pump that was meant to be the next addition. The walls are heavily insulated with both foam and fiberglass designed for a cold climate. They are also finished with a whiteboard-like surface that I used to mark key locations of wall studs and electrical wiring. This makes it particularly helpful for continuing with the build or starting over. The only issue I was never able to resolve was being able to power the fridge. I believe the power supply would need an upgrade in order to accommodate the fridge, or the fridge could be sold and replaced with a smaller unit. Included with the van are the following high-end items: (2) Boulder 100 mounted solar panels (retail $300 each), Yeti 1400 Power Station $1,800, and a Dometic CFX5 75DZ High Efficiency Fridge $1350. There is also an after market stereo professionally installed, with a charging dash mounted phone holder. I maintained regular service appointments since I bought the van in 2019. The battery was replaced in 2024, and all four tires were replaced in January 2026.
