2023 Ford Transit 250 AWD, medium roof 144" wheel base.
We absolutely love this van. It has 3.5 Ecoboost twin turbo has plenty of power. The turbos sound nice also. I specialty ordered this van from the Ford factory and made sure it had: Twin alternators, heated seats, premium sound system, custom wheels, and reverse camera.
It has a Ford Factory bumper to bumper Extended Warranty until 2029
I have built a number of vans for camping and travel- but always keep fun and functionality in mind. I built this for lightweight travel. I did not want the van to be too heavy on potentially uneven roads. This build has been fun and Ford put some thought into the Transit. The bed can be converted from a full size, to a queen size easily for those with longer legs. The side slider window and back windows were professionally installed. Overall this van is built very simply. The entire interior can be pulled out in an afternoon. However we are comfortable doing 6-7 days off grid with 100w solar inverter and a marine battery.
I have not put in insulation as Im not sure how I want to do this. We love this van and named her Sage. The goal is to get another Transit when that day comes. But with plans to build a home, sacrifices need to be made.
The "Oh yea's":
-It has a FULL bumper to bumper Ford
-Extended Warranty until 2029. (I paid $7k for it).
-Low Miles, currently 33k miles on it
-AWD is awesome
-Premium Sound
-Heated Seats
-Dual alternators
-Custom wheels
-Newer All terrain 10x ply tires with about 8k miles on them.
-Powerful sink pump that can dual as a shower pump
-Comes with a new Vevor 8wk Diesel Heater (never used or installed) -10 ft collapsable ladder.
-Powerful & very quick 3.5 Twin Turbo
-Averaging 18.1 MPG on trips
-Has two seats at the table so folks can sit across from each other (instead of side by side) while eating, or drinking coffee
-Ready to go on an adventure right now!
The "To do's":
-The sink drain works great but is temporary. Plans to put 10 gal. gray water underneath.
-Needs to be insulated and paneled.
-The battery system is basic, but there is lots of space for a more comprehensive battery system.
-Awning system? The current one works fine but its not fancy.
-It could use your finishing touches to make the van yours.
1/29/26 UPDATE: We just returned from a trip to CA desert and the van did great. Camped for 6 days and had plenty of water and the solar panel charged our marine battery to 100% by the end of the day. Uncle used a cpap and there were no issues.
