This is the long high-roof 2500, the layout everybody wants and the hardest one to find already built. Full standing headroom, room to sleep sideways, and a cedar interior with real cabinetry. And it has only 78,000 miles on it, which for a 2018 van is barely broken in.

Everything on it has just been gone through: new tires, new windshield, cooling system serviced, transmission fluid changed, fresh synthetic oil, and a professional deep clean and detail inside and out. The full list is at the bottom.

THE BUILD

Cedar paneling on the walls and ceiling with custom cabinetry built to match, butcher-block counters and a wood floor. Overhead cabinets above the cab and a second full-length run over the living space, plus drawers and under-bench storage all through the van. Reflective blackout sunscreen covers for every window and a dividing curtain between the cab and the back.

Full-size bed across the back with a brand-new 6-inch Zinus foam mattress. Fold it up for the day and you have two facing bench seats with a removable table between them. The passenger captain’s chair swivels around to face the living space. 24-inch Vizio smart TV on an articulating mount that connects to your phone and wifi.

POWER

300 watts of solar on the roof (three panels) with a Renogy Rover MPPT controller and Bluetooth monitoring, feeding 400Ah of LiFePO4 lithium batteries mounted under the van, so the house bank does not eat a single cabinet. A CTEK D250SA charges the house bank off the alternator while you drive, and a Xantrex Freedom HFS inverter/charger gives you 1000W of pure sine 120V power plus a 55 amp charger on shore power. Victron BMV-712 Smart battery monitor on the wall and on your phone, so you always know where you stand. Shore cord and adapters included.

The electrical is clean and labeled: fused main and inverter circuits, labeled bus bars and fuse block, a battery disconnect. 120V outlets with 4-port USB chargers plus 12V and USB sockets around the van, 12V dimmable LED lights front and rear, and a cell and wifi booster.

HEAT AND AIR

Webasto Air Top 2000 STC heater under the passenger seat, running on the van’s own gas, so heat never depends on propane or a plug. Dometic rooftop air conditioner for when you are hooked up. MaxxAir roof fan with an electric lift, with a new lift mechanism and a new motor.

KITCHEN

Dometic stainless two-burner propane stove and sink combo with a tempered glass lid, fed by a refillable 2-gallon propane tank, with a Safe-T-Alert propane detector on the cabinet. Dometic 12V compressor fridge with a freezer compartment. Contoure stainless built-in microwave running off the inverter.

WATER AND BATH

26-gallon fresh water tank with a SeaFlo 12V pressure pump, accumulator and strainer. 5-gallon gray water tank under the sink. Outdoor shower on the driver’s side, cold water only. Air Head composting toilet tucked in its own cabinet under a lift-up lid, with its own electric fan vent, out of sight and out of smell when you are not using it. Fire extinguisher on board.

DRIVING IT

3.6L Pentastar V6, 280 hp, front wheel drive, which is a real advantage in sand and snow over a rear-drive van. Cab air conditioning, cruise, tow/haul mode, power windows, locks and mirrors. Uconnect radio with Bluetooth and steering wheel controls. Alarm with remote. Dash cam.

THINGS TO NOTE

The rooftop air conditioning runs on shore power only. The wood floor has some wear, the wood inside a couple of the cabinets is peeling a bit (cosmetic only), and a small corner of the A/C’s plastic shroud is chipped off.
