UNDER CONTRACT–I’LL TAKE DOWN THE LISTING ONCE THE SALE IS COMPLETED.
MEET LUCY–SHE’S READY FOR HER NEW PEOPLE!
I bought Lucy in 2018. Her first folks were a young couple who did the conversion, then lived and traveled in her full time for a few years.
My plan was to make some changes to suit me better, do some shorter trips and then hit the road for longer meanders once I retired. Well, things didn’t quite go that way. Owing my partner’s health issues, long van trips just aren’t feasible. So, some van changes have been made, including some upgrades, and there are a few “basic” bits that are just waiting for your touch. It’s time for Lucy to be re-homed.
So, the good stuff, what’s here:
Basic van is a Promaster 2500 159″ wheelbase high roof, V6 engine. Passenger seat is on a swivel.
Ventilation: Fantastic fan over the bed. I added a cover so it can be used in the rain. Vented inserts for both front windows allows for good cross breezes. There is bug netting for both the side and rear doors.
Kitchen: The kitchen runs along the driver’s side. There is a lot of counter space and plenty of storage. There’s a deep 15 x 15 sink, and there are 7 gal water jugs (fresh and grey) under the sink, with a foot operated pump, along with a spare fresh jug in the garage. There’s a 65L Dometic fridge with freezer section in a pull out drawer. A one burner induction cooktop is included. Magnetic knife rack with knives and a magnetic spice rack are included as well. A fire extinguisher, too. I also will include a small Berkey counter top water unit that I purchased and never used.
Electricity: A Yeti 1400 is powered by two 100 watt solar panels on the roof. It can also be charged from the alternator (the original convertor did the alternator hook up, I haven’t used it) or shore power. The Yeti was replaced 2 years ago under warranty when an input receptacle broke. There are dome lights in the ceiling, along with a reading lamp for the bed.
The bed is a short queen, and it’s quite comfy. Linens are included.
A multi function bench runs along the passenger side wall. It seats two and has a Lagun table mount and removable teak table. There’s storage in one side of the bench and a lower drawer pulls out to provide easy stepping up onto the bed. There’s also a cassette toilet for nighttime relief.
I added a Webasto gas heater (tied into the vehicles gas supply) that will keep you toasty in cold weather.
Garage–Its big, one of the major features of this style build. Easy to carry two bikes in fork mounts along with whatever toys and extras you might desire.
Vehicle and maintenance: Up to date on everything, including a recent oil change and emission testing. There was a recall on the shifter cable and that was done in Sept. 2021. A full brake job was done then as well. Michelin all season tires went on at 54,000 miles. A new battery in Jan 2021. The van runs well and has been very reliable.
Other goodies: A Kahuna portable shower that I’ve never used, and if you want, I have a second Lagun table mount, as well as some lights to wire in for bedside reading. Stuff I didn’t get to. Lots of kitchen furnishings.
Now for what I don’t like so well.
Dust, sand and dog hair. Courtesy of the original owners and their pooch. Its clean now, and I have no doubt that you’ll find some unexplored crevice in there.
Projects that aren’t finished. I removed some cabinetry that didn’t suit or was falling apart or not working well when I got the van. At the bed end of the kitchen, my “temp” replacement is some wire shelving. Its sturdy, adds storage, and holds the Yeti and a small hotel-type safe. That said, it rattles on the road.
Temp barrier between the garage and main compartment. Useful for stowing long stuff, and I have fabric storage drawers there for clothes. Works fine, and a more solid wall might suit you better.
Accidents. Rear ended on the highway. Left with a small dent in driver’s side rear door. Got a new bumper out of it and there wasn’t any structural damage. Also a small side swipe on right rear–plastic above wheel is cracked and bent. Cosmetic problem only.
