2014 Ram 2500 Promaster 159” wheelbase
3.6l Pentastar V6
4 season build out perfect for the weekend and easily added onto for long-term dwellers.
Insulation/Sound Deadening:
• KILMAT Sound Deadening in all cargo wall bays, cargo ceiling bays, headliner & wheel wells
• Reflectix insulation on top of all insulation on walls & roof
• 1-inch thick foam in all areas on walls & ceiling
• Havelock wool in all spaces not easily filled with 1” foam board
• Spray foam used in all ribs and cavities too small for other insulations to protect against thermal bridging
• Cork insulation on the floor for knee comfort and extra insulation layer
• Waterproof RV liquid sealant insulation in the garage area so that wet items don’t rust out the van frame or cause mold growth
Walls, Ceiling, and Flooring:
• 1/2” Birch ply backing on all walls and roof. Screwed directly into the van frame. This makes adding cabinets or screwing into things super easy and structurally sound.
• 1/2” Birch ply finish nailed/screwed into the backing, this layer is routed, sanded, and finished in a warm stain that can very easily be altered to match your preference.
• ¾” Plywood subfloor with Lifeproof waterproof vinyl plank finished floor. Aluminum thresholds on entrances/edges.
Lighting:
• 12V Ceiling Puck Lights. Dimmable. Ambient lighting.
• 12V LED strips in the ceiling for accent lighting. Dimmable.
• 12V Reading Lights w/ USB. Dimmable. ON/OFF directly on the lights. Task lighting.
• 12V Recessed LED Strips underneath cabinets for accent lighting. Dimmable.
• 12V bright white garage LED Pucks. Task lighting.
Cabinetry/Features:
• Driver’s side base cabinet with tons of storage. Two huge doors, and three drawers. Dometic 70l fridge with a seat on top. Butcher block countertop with a polyurethane finish that’s super durable and cleans up nicely.
• The passenger side cabinet houses the sink, stove, water storage, and propane and still has plenty of storage behind the two doors.
• 60”x75” platform bed with 4” memory foam mattress.
• Passenger swivel seat.
• Large modular storage cabinet/ tray in the garage area. The cabinet breaks down into three different boxes for super easy access. The bottom box is the two huge batteries. The second cabinet slips onto the top of that and houses the inverter, DC/DC charger, MPPT charger, fuse blocks, the master off switches for everything, and the top box slips on top of that and is a nice tray for tossing more permanent van items into without the worry of them falling over or sliding around the garage. Garage:
• Very open garage area with electronics on the left side, a pass-through space into the front, full floor all the way back, and ski/snowboard storage on the right side without pushing into the center aisle.
Electrical:
• Two AGM 225ah batteries
• Renogy 50A DC-DC Charger
• Renogy 40A MPPT Solar Charge
Controller:
• Renogy 3000W Inverter
• Two 12V Fuse Block
• Renogy LCD Battery Monitor
• (2) 400W Solar Panels
• 110V Household Outlets on a power strip
• 3 50/100 amp fuses to protect against solar surges, alternator surges, and a fuse between all charging equipment and battery bank.
• 3 big switches to completely disconnect batteries from any loads, solar from chargers, and alternators from chargers. This makes maintenance much easier and a lot less sketchy. This also makes storage much easier and gives you a bit more confidence that everything will be okay when you’re away from the van.
Plumbing:
• Two Jerry cans for fresh water. We had a hard-mounted tank but hated the hose game. So we went with these Jerry’s instead and have liked them a lot more
• Extendable Faucet that doubles as an outdoor shower
• The entire plumbing system is extremely simple and all in one place. No gadgets to fail and cause leaks. No complicated or behind-the-wall plumbing at all. Everything is easy to service, replace, and work on.
• Nice deep sink
• 12V SEAFLO water pump Heating/Cooling:
• Maxxair Maxxfan Deluxe 7500K with Remote Fan Lid
• Chinese diesel heater
• Maxxair exhaust fan up front Exterior/mechanical.
• European hard-mounted locks that will not allow any door in the van to open when locked. European because a lot of these brands will key the locks the same so you can unlock someone else’s locks with your key. Dumb, seeing as how common van life is.
• Bilstein suspension system for a nice comfy ride.
• The engine has been fixed with the very common Pentastar tick, and all rocker bearings and lifters have been replaced.
