Selling A Van

How To Price Your Van

Jonlife

Your van is fully built out and ready to sell! Now how do you land on an asking price?

Putting a value on your vehicle can be tough. We here at VanlifeTrader cannot, for liability reasons, help you do that. But here is some of our best advice for picking your price:

  • Find some comparable listings. Search our listings and other websites for comparable vehicles to get a feel for market value. Think vans with similar amenities, components, vehicle year, miles, etc.
  • Consider all your costs. Write down how much you paid for the van, how much you paid for the build, and how much wear you’ve put on it, and you’ll have a pretty good idea what it’s worth. If you’re a DIYer, be sure to keep track of all your costs as you build, so you know exactly how much you have in it.
  • Ask yourself how fast you’d like to sell. If you’re eager to get your van sold as soon as possible, pricing it lower will definitely help. But if you’re willing to be a little more patient, starting with a price closer to the top of your range doesn’t hurt.
  • Check out Camper Van Appraisals. As a member of the Bureau of Certified Auto Appraisers, they offer appraisal services in all 50 states with prompt turnaround.

Know that you can change your price as often as you’d like after you publish your listing, but if you want another social media post after a price change, you’ll have to order a Repost.
