2005 Ford Econoline 2WD

Her name is Pegasus. Everyone calls her Peggy.

She started life on a Native American reservation in Arizona, which is a more interesting origin story than most vans get, and she’s spent the years since doing what she was built to do: hauling people somewhere better than where they started. Under our ownership that’s meant a lot of Ohio backroads, adventuring to Acadia in Maine to Raleigh NC, and many in-between. Our daughter has slept in this van in more states than most of her friends have visited. Peggy has never once left us stranded.

What she is: a 2005 Ford E-350 extended body, 2WD, 6.8L Triton V10, 180,000 miles. The V10 is the reason I’d buy this van again. It is a stone-simple, overbuilt gas engine that any shop in any small town can work on, and it doesn’t care how much weight you put behind it.

The build:

1. Sleeps 2, seats 2, fixed full size memory foam mattress, only used once
2. EcoFlow River 2 Pro power station with a 100W roof solar panel, plus shore power hookup, and power inverter wired to van (we have never needed to used the inverter).
3. 12V water pump, simple fresh/gray water system
4. Brand new ICECO 12V fridge (compressor, not a cooler)
5. Powered roof vent fan
6. New Jensen head unit with Apple CarPlay
7. New backup camera
8. Comes with portable propane space heater for the colder nights.

Just done: full oil change and engine maintenance, so she’s ready to drive home the day you buy her.

Being honest with you: she’s 21 years old. She is a well-loved adventure van, not a showpiece, and she’s priced accordingly.

$14,500. Canton, Ohio. Come see her, drive her, crawl underneath her. I’d rather she go to someone who wants exactly this van than to whoever shows up with cash first.
