A Move In Ready Home on Wheels
This custom built 2015 Mercedes Sprinter was designed and lived in as a full-time home for two people. We have lived in this van full time, traveling through different climates and environments and learning what actually makes a van comfortable and functional for everyday life.
The electrical system was one of the most important parts of creating a comfortable home, and this van was built with that in mind. It has five solar panels rated at 1,100 watts, a 580Ah lithium battery bank, 3000 watt inverter, and the ability to charge from solar, shore power, or the alternator while driving. This allowed us to live comfortably off-grid for extended periods without having to worry about finding a campground or plugging in.
We were able to use everyday comforts that made the van feel much more like a home, including the air conditioner, electric cooktop, toaster oven, espresso machine, hot water heater, refrigerator, and everyday electronics. Having this much electrical capacity gave us the freedom to spend extended periods in remote places while still having the conveniences we were used to at home.
The interior was designed around how we actually lived day to day. The large bed is between a queen and king size, giving two people plenty of room to sleep comfortably. We slept in either direction depending if the van was parked at an angle. During the day, the bed converts into a table and sofa/workspace, giving the van a completely different feel for relaxing, working, or eating. There is also an abundance of hidden storage, which makes it easy for two people to stay organized while living in a relatively small space. Everything has its place, and the layout was designed to maximize usability without ever feeling cluttered.
The water system was also designed for extended travel. The van has a 30-gallon fresh water tank and a 5-gallon hot water tank, with the ability to fill from a standard water spigot (or auxiliary jug with a funnel). The plumbing supplies the kitchen sink as well as the indoor and outdoor showers. A dual-stage filtration system provides filtered drinking water directly from the dedicated faucet at the sink. The Laveo waterless toilet eliminates the need for a traditional black tank and greatly reduces odors. A supply of flush cartridges is included with the sale.
Mechanically, the van has a recently installed remanufactured Mercedes diesel engine with approximately 7,000 miles, along with a transferable warranty and documented work. The van has been thoroughly road-tested through full-time travel by two people, giving us the opportunity to discover and address the things that matter when a vehicle is not just a camper, but your actual home.
This is a bittersweet sale for us. We’re selling because we’re entering a new chapter of our lives and are ready to settle down, but this van has given us an incredible way to experience the country that we never could have through hotels or a traditional camper. We were able to stay overnight near trailheads that would otherwise fill up early, watch sunsets from places where others had to leave to make it back to their hotel or campground, wake up surrounded by places that otherwise would have only been day trips, and even travel comfortably during the off-season thanks to the van’s heating and air conditioning. For us, this van became much more than a camper, it was our home, our way of seeing the country, and the freedom to wake up somewhere new while still having everything we needed. We hope its next owner gets to experience the same sense of freedom, adventure, and home that made this van so special to us.
We would be willing to deliver the van with a non-refundable deposit.
