Mileage: 96,500
Hi there,
We’re selling our beloved 2006 T1N Sprinter. Since 30,000 miles, this van has called California home and has been babied.
You’ve heard it before: “the T1N is the “million mile Sprinter.” But they only get to a million miles with proper maintenance. And I went wild with preventative maintenance.
Why? Partly because we planned to keep this van for life, and partly because of my OCD. My neurosis is your gain.
See below for the full maintenance list — documentation available for most of the work.
The build:
Cabin:
- Scheel-Mann Vario F Driver’s Seat — Upgraded to a Scheel-Mann Vario F for the driver. The passenger retained the factory seat (my partner’s preference), so only the driver seat has been upgraded.
- Swivel Seats — Both driver and passenger seats are equipped with swivel bases.
- Alpine Touchscreen Stereo — Digital touchscreen head unit with the ability to run with the engine off.
- Upgraded Polk Audio Speakers — Polk speakers up front and in the rear doors.
- Cruise Control
- Power Windows & Remote Locking
- Aftermarket Alarm System
Kitchen:
- Stove — Propane stove with 5 gallon propane tank
- Fridge — Dometic pull-out fridge
- Sink — Stainless steel sink
Plumbing / bathroom:
- Nature’s Head Composting Toilet — I cleaned it for four hours with bleach. It looks brand new, and is squeaky clean.
- 20-Gallon Fresh Water Tank & 10-Gallon Grey Water Tank — Grey water tank with a convenient exterior latch for easy emptying.
- Water Filtration System — Dual-stage filtration with an inline filter at the hose inlet and a secondary filter at the tap for clean drinking water.
- Spray Hose Connect — Easy-connect spray hose for rinsing wetsuits, gear, and equipment.
Climate control:
- Heat — Espar Airtronic diesel heater keeps the van nice and toasty. It only has 20-30 hours on it.
- Cooling — Maxxair fan: Needs maintenance.
Electrical:
- Power:
- USB & regular power outlets throughout the van
- 300ah Battleborn batteries
- 300 watts of solar
- Shore power plugin
- Upgraded alternator so batteries charge while driving
- Wifi — Pepwave MAX Transit Duo Mobile Router. Multi-SIM capable router supporting multiple carriers simultaneously (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile). Running AT&T and Verizon together delivered 99% coverage on the road. Also works perfectly with a single SIM.
- 28″ Smart TV / Computer Monitor — A 28″ smart TV that doubles as a full computer monitor. Combined with the Scheel-Mann seat and table placement, this is the most ergonomic desk I’ve ever used.
Misc:
- Yakima Skyline Roof Rack
- Upgraded Curt Tow Hitch 2”
- Comes with 3 sets of keys and remotes
- Expensive set of well-insulated window covers included.
- Lots of kilmat soundproofing + insulation
- You can have my extra water filters + peat moss for the compost toilet!
- Comes with carbon monoxide detector & fire extinguisher
Maintenance: As mentioned above, these vans are regularly advertised as “million mile sprinters”, easily going 500,000-1,000,000 miles. And yes, these vans were built as million mile delivery vans, but that requires proper maintenance. As you’ll see below, I went nuts with preventative maintenance.

- Oil change every 8000-1000 miles + oil filter
- Transmission fluid (2x-3x times)

- All AC components, including the head unit, were replaced

What needs maintenance?
- The engine battery is 4 years old, so I’d recommend getting a new one in the next year.
- Maxxair fan: As you’ll read in the reviews online, these fans, while extremely popular, are finicky. I unplugged it because it was behaving oddly (turning itself on or off).
Other notes:
- I need to keep bedding / pillows but you can keep the mattress!
