Are you ready to create lasting memories with your family? Look no further! This 2022 Ford Transit AWD camper van is designed for a family of four, perfect for everything from chilly school drop-offs to unforgettable camping trips along the beautiful Oregon coast.
The Van: This high-roof, 148 LB Ford Transit 350 comes equipped with an EcoBoost V6 turbo engine and boasts only 22,000 miles. With all-wheel drive and upgraded all-terrain (AT) tires, this van is ready for all weather conditions. It includes a full-size spare tire on a rear carrier, HID headlights, fog lights, an aftermarket light bar, and ditch lights for nighttime adventures on dirt roads. Modern features like lane-sensing assist, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control ensure stress-free driving during long trips. The 13″ Apple CarPlay display keeps your maps and entertainment at your fingertips, and 360-degree cameras make parking and maneuvering in tight spaces a breeze.
Designed with family comfort in mind, the van features two JMG engineering captain’s chairs (FMV approved) to keep your kids happy during trips, with ISOFIX anchor points for car seats if needed. There’s space for a third seat in the floor (not included) to accommodate extra guests, but this will limit access to the camper. When the front seats swivel and the table is set up, the cabin transforms into a cozy family seating area perfect for games and activities on the road. The Lagun table can also fit in driving mode for additional road trip comfort.
Family Kitchen: The center section of the van includes a well-equipped kitchen. On the driver’s side, you’ll find a countertop with an 86-liter fridge underneath. The passenger side features a sink area with hot and cold running water, making after-meal cleanup easy. There’s even a designated space for a potty (we use a Dometic 972, not included), along with a 10-gallon grey water tank that drains manually.
Utility and Garage Space: The rear of the van houses a utility and garage area where the passenger side has a 20-gallon fresh water tank and a 4.2-gallon hot water tank powered by an electric system. Enjoy the convenience of an outdoor shower with hot and cold mixing at the back of the van, perfect for rinsing off after a day of playing at the beach. The entire electrical system, featuring Victron Energy components, includes 400 AH of LiFePo batteries and a 2000-watt inverter. It can charge via the alternator while driving, shore power when plugged in, or through 200W of solar panels mounted on the roof. A touchscreen on the overhead cabinets and the Victron Connect app make it easy to manage your energy use. While we decided against adding a rooftop AC unit, the system could support it if you are interested, and there’s also space to expand the battery system by another 200Ah.
Generous Garage Area: We made sure the garage space would be a step up for our family compared to our last van, which lacked enough toy storage. This garage is spacious (45″x76″ and 30″ tall with both beds in place) and features an adjustable electric bed that increases the garage height from 30″ to 57″. Two sections of L-track, spaced at 60 inches, are perfect for securing gear or mounting bike fork mounts or a gear tray.
Comfortable Sleeping Arrangements: Above the garage, you’ll find two queen-sized beds. The upper bed, on electric actuators, adjusts in height based on your cargo needs, while the lower bed rests on the utility boxes and can be removed in three sections to maximize cargo space. Both mattresses are covered in professional upholstery fabric with moisture guard to keep them dry and comfortable, ensuring everyone sleeps soundly after a day of adventures.
Smart Storage Solutions: The driver’s side features a full bank of aluminum cabinets with three sections for efficient gear storage. The center section houses the main van control panel. We store our permanent camping gear here, while the cabinets allow for convenient interior charging of devices like your Bluetooth speaker or walkie talkies. The passenger side has J-channel for up to four hanging bags (from Vanwife components or Campo Vans), with our family using one 24″ bag for Mom and three 18″ bags for the kids’ clothes. We also installed a Van Essential wall-mounted bag over the slider door for easy access to sunscreen and other essentials for your adventures.
Exterior Upgrades for Enjoying the Outdoors: The exterior features an AVC roof rack with solar panels flanking the MaxxAir fan, providing additional rear space for cargo panels, AC, or more solar based on your needs. A Fiamma F45 awning mounted to the rack extends your living space outside, while bug screens for the sliding and rear doors allow for fresh air without pests.
