2010 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500, Custom Conversion Camper Van
Low miles, clean title in hand
Brand new professional conversion completed in July 2021. Every thing in this build is brand new, all appliances have manufacturer's warranties and user manuals. All components have been thoroughly tested and work perfectly. The goal of this van was to have all the comforts of home, yet be able to go completely off grid. Just high tech enough for every convenience to be taken care of, yet simple enough for anyone to use with ease. My partner and I lived full time in a Sprinter van for two years. The entire time traveling in our van we thought of all the things that we would do differently in a future build. In this van we implemented all of those things, making this our dream van. For the last few years we have constantly been researching all of the best components available, and this van is the culmination of that research and time spent living in a van.

The Full Camper Conversion Specs in Detail
Base Van:
The base van is a 2010 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500 in like new condition. We went with the 3500 because it has dual rear wheels, which makes it four wheel drive in the rear, has the highest weight rating/tow capacity of all Sprinters, and is WAY more stable in high winds then the 2500 models. This van is the high roof model with the 170 inch wheel base. It is in perfect mechanical condition inside and out. We bought it from a dealer in February of 2021 with 136k miles, with all maintenance up to date. Since then it has never had any mechanical problems, or even a check engine light come on. Its virtually perfect besides a small ding here or there. These diesel Mercedes engines are known to go for over a million miles. The 2007-2010 models are said to not have the diesel exhaust fluid system problems that the newer years are reported to be prone to.
Insulation and Foundations:
- Noico sound deadener was installed on all the walls, floor, and inside all of the door panels
- The entire van was well insulated. Polyiso board was used to insulate the ceiling and all the walls. This was installed with spray foam around the edges to create a vapor barrier. Eco cork was used to insulate below the floor. 3M Thinsulate was used to insulate all of the inner door panels, so not to interfere with the door mechanics. 3M Thinsulate was also used to insulate the cab of the van
- The ceiling is aromatic Cedar. Smells great and is supposed to help keep bugs out
- The flooring is waterproof and scratch resistant vinyl
- All seams/transitions along the perimeter of the floor have been carefully siliconed to protect from weather and spills
Electric :
- Yeti Goal Zero 1000 Watt Lithium Ion Power Bank. This is the top of the line and industry leader when it comes to power banks. This all-in-one station has a charge controller, two 1500 Watt AC Inverters, Four USB ports, with 3500 watt override surge protection, and an advanced monitoring system that tells you how long till the solar panels fully charge your battery, or how many hours of the current power usage until your battery is drained. It comes with a two year warranty and excellent customer service. It is also easily expandable if you wish to add on more battery storage capacity. Full specs can be seen here: https://www.goalzero.com/shop/shop/goal-zero-yeti-1000x-portable-power-station/
I lived for two years with one of these as my only power source, and loved it. No need for a loud and stinky generator running all night.
- All electric components on separate fuses in simple labeled fuse box. There are extra spaces on the breaker to add any additional 12 volt appliances if you want to at some point. We designed this van to be just high tech enough for comfort and convenience, but yet very simple and user friendly for any one to understand.
- Control panel in overhead cabinet for:
---Garnet See level tank monitoring system. This system allows you to see the percentage that is full in you freshwater tank, grey water tank, propane tank and the voltage of your battery
---Water heater digital LCD screen controller allows you to dial the water temp however you want, wherever you need
---Grey water tank electric valve switch, so you can dump your tank with the push of a button with out needing to climb under the van. It also comes with an adapter to connect the grey water tank to a garden hose.
---Diesel parking heater LCD screen controller and thermostat
Kitchen/ Living Space:
- The kitchen is built with 15 square feet of Acacia wood butcher block counter top
- Suburban 3 burner stove. We chose this because it actually has room for 3 full size pans to be used all at once. Most builds have the little 2 burner stoves that can't really fit more than one pan at a time
- Dometic 3 Way Refrigerator, 5 cubic foot storage capacity, with large freezer compartment Comes with many features, including automatic pilot light ignition. Custom wood piece on the front of the refrigerator door, by artist JA Design (jadesignwork.com)
- Large stainless steel sink. 16” long by 12” wide by 10” deep. We chose this large sink to have plenty of room to easily wash a stack of dishes or leave pots overnight if you’re feeling lazy. This sink was under-mounted below the counter and has a butcher block cut-out that fits perfectly over the sink basin for additional counter space or can be used as a cutting board. Also comes with a dish drying rack, strainer and drain plug
- Pull down extendable faucet for dishes and cleaning sink, with hot and cold water
- Met Pure two stage water filter with its own faucet for drinking water. Five micron sediment and carbon filters. Van also comes with a Camco RV inline filter to pre-filter all water before it enters the fresh water tank
- There are overhead cabinets on both sides of the kitchen. They both have under-mounted lights on separate switches. All overhead cabinet doors are on hydraulic hinges so they stay up when opened. All doors have locking latches so doors stay closed when driving
- There are five kitchen cabinet drawers located under the countertops
- A trash can is concealed inside of a cabinet and on pull-out rollers. So important to have a place for trash, especially if you're camping on BLM land for an extended amount of time.
- Maxxair MaxxFan plus ceiling fan and vent. 10 speed, dual direction fan that can be controlled by a thermostat
- Four ceiling lights are located in the kitchen on a dimmer switch that returns to the last setting it was on when last turned off
Shower:
- Glass tiled shower stall with a 36”x24” shower pan footprint
- Nautilus retractable shower door. This door is self cleaning with a built in squeegee. We chose this slick shower door to avoid the rattling of a shower curtain while driving
- Seaflow water pump. Three gallons per minute, self-priming water pump
- Suburban tankless on-demand instant hot water heater. This is the top of the line for tankless RV hot water heaters. It has a digital thermostat so you can dial in the perfect temperature at any altitude or climate
- Shower light
- Camco cassette toilet. Cassette toilets are the standard RV toilets in Europe. They are much more convenient to empty and clean then when dealing with a black water tank set up.
Bedroom:
- We went with the fixed bed design in this van to avoid the daily bed rearranging and for the added bonus of the huge amount garage storage it creates underneath. This van has a queen size bed, which is rare in most van builds.
- The queen sized bed is a Zinus green tea and activated charcoal infused memory foam mattress. It has 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon with over 108,000 ratings. It's brand new and has never been slept in before.
- This bed is equipped with a Dometic Midi Heki Skylight overhead. When it's open and the max fan is running you get a nice cross breeze through the entire van. These are double pane insulated and come with a built in bug screen and curtain. Anyone who has slept in a van with a window beside the bed knows the neck ache on a cold night, which leads to needing insulated curtains that leave you sleeping in complete darkness in the morning. This skylight design fixes those problems completely and makes for more privacy and security in bed at night.
- Beside the bed are three bed side storage cabinets to store clothes and things
- There are overhead cabinets on one side of the bed with under mounted cabinet lights, and four ceiling lights on a dimmer switch
- USB and USB-C charging port and small bedside table
Exterior:
- Brand new all-terrain tires that are barely even broken in yet. They have 135 miles on them at the time of this post. After reading extensively on Sprinter forums online I chose the Discovery Pro All-Terrain tires because they are said to have the best both on road and off road performance. They are very quiet and smooth on the highway. In my last van, I figured out the hard way that a more rugged tire is essential on a converted van. I had normal all-season tires and split one open on a sharp rock down a dirt road.
- A genuine Surco ladder is mounted on the rear door to allow roof top access to equipment and to enjoy the view from up high
- Two 100 watt Renogy solar panels are mounted on the roof on stealthy low rider brackets. The panels can hardly be seen from the ground unless you walk very far away. Reongy is the leading brand in marine grade solar panels that can withstand high winds from driving as well as heavy snow loads
- The solar panel wires enter the van through a water proof entry port
- A 5.5 gallon (23 pound) Manchester horizontal RV propane tank is securely mounted under the vehicle in a protected cavity. This tank has a two-stage regulator, and the most up to date safety features available on the market. It is also connected to the Garnet SeeLevel tank monitoring system so you can conveniently check how full it is with the push of a button inside the van
- All propane lines are braided stainless steel LPG hoses
- An exterior water inlet is located on the side of the van. It opens just like a gas cap, but has a lock and key for added safety. Just put in a garden hose to fill the fresh water tank
Serious inquiries only please. Our last van for sale received dozens of responses in the first couple days, then the first person who booked a flight to look at it bought it on the spot.
