The Background:
My camper van broke down in Ennis, MT this October and was towed to Bozeman Transmission where it may need a full transmission rebuild. The quandary is they can’t get to it until first week of December and I need to get back to my family in South Carolina. Quoted cost of repair is about $5500 with an upgraded and isolated Transmission Cooler (so this is unlikely to happen in the future). That’s worse case scenario, there is a chance it needs less work done on it as the transmission only had 77K miles and recently had the trans service done. The miles are 183,000 and engine runs great. New BFG K02 A/T tires installed Jan. 2025, Upgraded Bilstein B6 shock and struts + Sumo Springs installed Jul. 2024, Class V frame mounted hitch. I did oil changes and filters myself every 5k. Aside from the current mechanical issue, the camper has been a perfect cabin on the road
