Painted professionally (Oct. ’24), 4-seater 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 144wb high-top. It is an Adventure Van that is built for day-trips, remote work, and longer stay camping trips (lots of solar panels and batteries)
Highlights:
Camping: Sleeps 3-5. Well insulated and sound proofed. XPLR four-season window covers to keep van temperature regulated. Besides the van’s AC, there is a MaxAir ceiling & 12v fan that you has a custom mount on any of the L-tracks.
Lots of solar and battery power + a 3000w power inverter. All the work was done by a professional up-fitter.
Day Trips: Lots of garage space and a bunch of L-tracks to haul surfboards, bikes and all kinds of gear. The van hasn’t been overbuilt with cabinets and kitchen as I wanted the option for lots of garage space when using for day trips or remote work.
Remote work: large custom bamboo table, comfortable seating, plenty of solar and battery to keep your electronics charged and a WeBoost (cell phone signal amplifier).
Detailed Description of Different Arrangements
Seating, working & eating configurations:
Front seats and passenger seats swivel so all four people eat together when using the custom bamboo table. There is a lagun mount so it’s easy to put in and remove the bamboo table. There built in table storage for the table when it’s not in used.
The two front seats were just re-upholstered and the seat swivels were installed (DOT approved swivels).
The two captain passenger chairs also swivel. These were installed professionally. I have the DOT certificate of installation.
There is a beautiful custom bamboo bench in the back which houses the batteries, inverter etc. It seats 2-3. There is a second lagun bracket installed on the bench so you can use that same bamboo table. I use this configuration when I want to work from the van. Note the van has a RV WeBoost installed in case you find yourself in a area with low bars.
Sleep Accommodation’s:
Bed 1: Large non-permanent custom bed, 65wx80″ long, that fits a large couple. I’m 6’4 220lb and my feet don’t hang off. When the bed is not in use, the bed platform and braces mount neatly on the L-tracks and the mattress cushions secured to the wall. I had my upfitter follow LiveLikePete build.
The mattress is 4-5″ foam that has been cut to fit and upholstered. One of the cushions is used as a seat cushion for the back bench.
Bed 2: Custom Luna inflatable front seat mattress that will sleep one person up to 5’7″ and or a pet.
Bed 3: Bed no.1 is 40″ from the floor so there is plenty of room to put a mattress on the floor underneath for additional sleeping accommodations. We designed it this way for both the option of additional sleeping sleeping as well as the ability to store bikes without having to take off the front tires. This space is great for hauling anything you want.
