4X4 build details: This is a Timberline 4X4 coil spring conversion van built in Golden, Colorado. The setup is a coil spring solid axle front end, and there’s little that wasn’t touched in the conversion. This van was gone through in detail and rebuilt at 201,000 miles. The main rebuilt components: transmission is 4R100 rebuilt with updated internals, all new seals, new OEM electronics, and wear components, low stall Branting torque converter. The front differential is rebuilt, new ring, pinion, bearings, seals, new Moog ball joints. The rear diff has been rebuilt as well, True-trac Dana 70 locker, new clutch packs, ring, pinion, spider gears, new bearings, and seals. The t-case has been rebuilt, NV271. It also has a new catalytic converter (this is common on vans with this mileage range, so nice to know it’s done). The van runs great and for a 5.4 it has decent power. The van isn’t light but it’s not super super heavy either, it’s tall, but with the front end setup it feel surprisingly nimble around the corners, doesn’t feel like it’s going to tip over. The Timberline conversion includes but is not limited to: all new tie-rods, new moog premium ball joints, new front brake calipers, rotors, pads, brake lines, new abs sensors keep factory abs intact, new shocks front and rear, custom drive-shafts, new 4-link front end with all new hardware and bushings, LED 4X4 indicator light, has manual locking hubs, axle is from 2006 F-350 with around 100k miles, new fluids in front/rear diffs, t-case and trans, has Dana 70 full floating rear diff, many other new parts.
Things that have been replaced in the last 10,000 miles-
Oil change (changed on schedule regularly)
Thermostat
Water pump
Serpentine belt & tensioner
Fuel rail and fuel tank pressure sensors
Spark plugs and ignition coils
Front upper and lower ball joints
Right, front axle shaft u-joints
Front internal/external axle seals
Fluid front/rear differentials
Rear brakes and rotors
Other things to note: This is a 2-owner Colorado van. First owner was TRC and was used to do environmental impact studies, and second owner built-out the rig as a full-time nomad. The van has a few miles on the chassis, but the motor runs excellent, it has mostly freeway mileage, and basically everything but the motor has either been replaced or totally gone through.
Important to know:
-The seam between the attic area and the main box needs to be resealed. If the van is parked at an angle that allows water to pool on top, there is a slight dripping inside. Options to fix it are: reseal it yourself ($50), pay an RV repair shop to reseal it ($400), have that square box replaced with a rounded one that will eliminate this seam issue and greatly improve gas mileage ($1300). Happy to elaborate on all of these.
