The four-season go-anywhere, do-anything camper van conversion is price slashed and ready to move! With only 36,000 miles on the odometer and the six-year/120,000 mile warranty, a set of new tires and “clean bill of health” from Mercedes-Benz of Tucson, this van is just getting broken in. With Mercedes discontinuing the true 4X4 found on this vehicle, this is an incredible opportunity to own a truly capable rig and get off the grid this weekend.
We maximized every inch of space in this rig. The Flarespace flares are the foundation of what makes this build so incredibly spacious and packed full of storage without feeling cramped. The flares house Artic Tern’s double paned acrylic awning-style windows with custom blackout shades provided by Flarespace. A custom cut memory foam mattress takes advantage of all the space created by the flares.
This van’s exterior got the full Flatline Van Company treatment with their Lo Pro roof rack, fairing, side ladder, and additional cross bars. TimberTech Azek decking creates an unbelievable space for yoga, stargazing, sunset drinks, photography, or all of the above.
Mounted to the FVCO roof rack are two (2) Renogy 100 watt eclipse panels that keep the Yeti Goal Zero 3000x charged up off grid and miles away from “shore power”. When you’re in town, take advantage of the Yeti Goal Zero’s 600 watt Power Supply for incredibly fast charging via shore power. Also up top, you’ll find the Max Air 75000K to keep air moving in the living area year round.
With all the additional space afforded by the Flarespace flares, including two massive galley units was no problem at all. On the driver’s side you’ll find the Isotherm Cruise 85 Elegance fridge as well as two massive drawers and a cabinet concealing the new, unused Thetford cassette toilet. The passenger side galley houses the Dometic D21 SEC two burner stove and Dometic MEV Round Sink. Below the sink you’ll find a 5 gallon fresh water tank dedicated for clean drinking water and a 5 gallon gray water tank – both of which are hooked up via quick disconnect and fully on board so there’s no concern with below-freezing temps. A massive 32 gallon fresh water tank supplies water to the propane outdoor shower, which is conveniently located to allow for on-demand hot water at the sink as well. Keep an eye on the level of this tank with the gauge on the galley face. As an added bonus, the outdoor shower hose reaches to the roof for solar panel rinsing with hot water.
A brand new Espar heater makes this rig truly four-season capable. All water is on board and the van is completely insulated with Thinsulate SM600L. Combined with the industry-standard marathon tweed, the van stays warm on the coldest nights in the backcountry.
Under the bed, you’ll find even more storage in a variety of shapes and depths with bungees to make sure all your gear stays where you stored it at the end of the trail. As if that wasn’t enough storage, two massive overhead cabinets built with 3/4″ 11 ply Baltic birch and laminated with a macadamia nut veneer compliment the Flatline Van Company overhead shelves above the driver and passenger swivel seat. The storage continues beneath the two-person seating area behind the drivers seat where you can access the Blue Sea 12v fuse panel, the Yeti Goal Zero 3000x and additional storage space.
When the power leatherette driver and passenger seats are swivelled around, an amazing seating section for four with a Lagun table is created. Having a variety of seating solutions for working remotely was a key component of this build. That’s why the Yeti Goal Zero 3000x power station sits central to the four seating options created in the cab area.
An unexpected change of plans has resulted in the van’s current owner trading in his full-time life on the road for a more “stationary” position – and this rig is ready for a new owner to continue the adventure!
