Meet Black Beauty. She has been more than a van to us. She’s been a home, a creative space, and a trusted companion through wide-open landscapes and quiet mornings. We built her slowly and intentionally, prioritizing simplicity, durability, and comfort over trends. As we settle into Colorado for a new chapter of parenthood, it feels right to pass her on to someone ready for their own adventures.
This is a custom-built Ram ProMaster designed and built by us with both aesthetics and real-world functionality in mind. Every element was chosen for ease of living, off-grid capability, and long-term reliability.
Interior & Living SpaceThe interior is warm, minimal, and highly functional. Natural wood paneling, a durable oak-look floor, and clean lines create a calm, spacious feel. The layout comfortably sleeps two on a therapeutic OMG firm foam queen mattress set on a lightweight, modular aluminum rail bed frame.
The bed system is easy to remove, allowing the van to quickly convert into an open cargo or gear-hauling space if desired. Storage is integrated throughout, including side bed storage and rear wheel-well boxes, while the open space under the bed easily fits gear, bins, or bikes.
KitchenThe kitchen was designed for daily use, not just weekend trips. It features a hardwood countertop, two-burner Teka gas stove, full-size Ruvati sink, and a Whale foot pump system to conserve water. The water system uses dual 7-gallon jugs with additional storage under the sink for simple, reliable off-grid living. A metal backsplash and open shelving keep the space both practical and beautiful.
Electrical & SolarBlack Beauty is powered by a modular EcoFlow DELTA 2 LiFePO₄ system (1024Wh, ~80Ah @ 12V equivalent) with a built-in 1800W pure sine wave inverter (2700W surge). The system easily runs a fridge/freezer, MaxxFan Deluxe, lighting, and electronics. Paired with 400W of solar (Renogy panels), this setup supports extended off-grid stays with ease.
Comfort, Insulation & BuildThe van is well insulated using R-Max, R-Tech, and Havelock wool insulation, helping regulate temperature and reduce road noise. While she does not include a built-in heater or air conditioning, the insulation supports comfortable travel in temperate climates and provides a solid foundation for adding climate control if desired. Lightweight materials were used throughout to maintain good fuel efficiency without sacrificing durability.
Driving & ExteriorShe rides smoothly thanks to SumoSprings suspension and BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires (replaced June 2022). Exterior features include a custom powder-coated roof rack, rear access ladder for easy access to the roof and solar panels, MaxxFan Deluxe, and a rubberized rust-prevention undercoating for longevity.
