2022 Mercedes Sprinter 4×4

We initially built this van for a Summer trip to Prudhoe Bay, AK and across nearly all of Canada, which it accomplished with ease. Since then it has taken us back and forth across the US numerous times, been our basecamp for 3-5 week ski trips every year, and taken us everywhere else we’ve wanted to go with it. Life changes, and needs change, and unfortunately for us, it’s time for the van to find a new home for continuing adventures!

The van was built thoughtfully and practically as a DIY build. If you’re looking for a van that is built as a flashy Instagram style, this isn’t what you’re looking for. If you want something that is comfortable and usable, with all the necessities, keep on reading! It started life as a brand new Sprinter 2500 4×4 cargo van, and upon making the 400 mile drive home, the work started.

Some highlights:

1. 3M Thinsulate, TAI, Minicell, and Low-E Foamcore insulation throughout (cab and cargo areas), as well as 80mil CLD acoustic insulation.
2. Espar S2 D2L Diesel heater
3. 700Ah of Battle Born lithium batteries (the drop down menus wouldn’t let me pick 700Ah) with thermostatically controlled heating pads and 3M Thinsulate/Minicell insulation wrap

Some known issues:

1. Surface corrosion on side steps, skid plates, and winch housing
2. Several corrosion spots on roof above the windshield
3. Numerous chips that have been touched up on the windshield and sides of the van
4. Partially melted trim around passenger side exterior mirror housing
