Meet Sol Joy — a thoughtfully built, full-time livable tiny home on wheels. Built on a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 with a 170” wheelbase, this van has been fully converted to feel more like a real home than an RV.
The custom divider wall with a full-height sliding door creates true separation between the driving and living areas, giving you added privacy, comfort, and better temperature control. When inside, you can forget that you’re even in a van.
Inside the living space, limewash-finished walls give the space a warm, calming feel with natural texture. The kitchen is full standing height (6’3”) and features a large clay-toned countertop and an island with open shelving and several drawers. The hand-laid natural stone backsplash designed with irregular pieces and earth-toned grout acts as a sculptural focal point that reinforces the raw, grounded aesthetic of the overall design. Cooking is easy with a dual induction stovetop, custom-framed toaster oven/air fryer, upright fridge/freezer, and plenty of cabinet and drawer storage. A 40-gallon fresh water tank feeds the sink and the 3-stage Waterdrop filtration system provides clean, great-tasting drinking water — BPA-free and designed to reduce lead, chlorine, and unpleasant taste or odor. Grey water drains into a 22-gallon tank beneath the van.
The living room features a custom-built U-shaped couch with hand-sewn custom cushions & storage underneath. The back of the couch flips up to create a full queen-sized bed. 3/4 of the bed is fixed at all times (same layout as Youtube’s Eamon and Bec’s Casa B build) – giving you separation from the rest of the house if you so desire, and allowing you a fixed garage space. Reading bedside sconces finish off the bedroom giving it a cozy and inviting feel.
Inside the couch chaise is a hidden bathroom space complete with a shower setup and Cuddy composting toilet. The shower curtain attaches to ceiling hooks to create a full-standing shower, while the sink faucet is switched out for a 10ft shower hose and manually-controlled shower head that can even be pulled outside for an outdoor rinse-off. The tiled bathroom area is also wired for the Cuddy toilet’s vent fan.
The fixed garage space is lined with a durable rubberized material, ideal for gear storage and houses a fully installed off-grid electrical system (installed by Explorist.Life), including:
• (3) 200Ah lithium batteries (600Ah total)
• 3,000W Victron inverter/charger
• Alternator charging
• Victron Cerbo GX
• 500W solar system on roof rack
• Shore power outlet
Also installed: a Fiamma F45s awning for shaded outdoor living and a Flatline Van Co roof rack with side ladder.
This van is ready for full-time living or extended travel. It’s secure, comfortable, self-contained, and thoughtfully designed to feel like home – because it is!
