2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Camper Van | Seats 9 | Sleeps 5–6 | 600W Solar | Only 47,000 Miles
Brand New Sideboards, front floor mats and front seat covers!
If you've been searching for a camper van that can actually accommodate a family, this one is worth a look. It took me 3 years to find it when I was looking.
Most Sprinter conversions sacrifice seating capacity in favor of living space. This van legally seats **9 people with seatbelts** while still comfortably sleeping **5–6**, making it one of the most versatile family camper vans you'll find.
We've absolutely loved owning it and are only selling because we cannot use it as a hotel for our kid's travel sports anymore. This has never been a full-time living van—it has been our family adventure vehicle for weekend camping, road trips, mountain biking, travel sports, and vacations. It was parked under a covered parking unless needing to be charged in the sun, plugged in all winter (always) to keep the lithium batteries warm and not going below a specific temp.
The conversion was completed by the previous owners using both DIY craftsmanship and local van conversion professionals for major systems, including the electrical work and metal fabrication. We purchased it in 2023 and have had zero issues with the build quality.
### Vehicle
* 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
* Only 47,000 miles
* 3500
## The Feature That Sets This Van Apart
**Seats 9 people with seatbelts.**
Finding a professionally built camper van that legally carries an entire family is incredibly rare. This van functions as both your daily driver and your weekend camper, eliminating the need for a second vehicle. This is how we used it so it has minimal miles. We have three other cars and live in a small mountain town so it wasn't driven a lot.
Amazing to have a toilet and fridge while traveling with kids!
## Sleeping Arrangements (Sleeps 5–6)
* Manual-assisted queen bed lowers from the ceiling
* Can easily be widened with additional foam if desired
* Fold-out bench converts into an XL Twin
* Front 3-person bench works with a truck-style inflatable mattress
* Luno front seat mattress included for an additional sleeper in the front two seats with a strong support. Up to a 5'7 height person.
* We've comfortably slept our family of five.
One thing we loved with younger kids was the flexibility. We often left the XL Twin folded up for one child and placed a small inflatable mattress beside it on the floor for another. It worked surprisingly well, and everyone slept comfortably. Our oldest slept up in the front cab on the Luno mattress and the two of us slept on the queen memory foam that comes out of the ceiling.
## Solar & Electrical
* 600 watts of roof-mounted solar
* Shore power (30 amp)
* Lithium battery system
* Batteries wired for alternator charging (currently disconnected to match how we use the van and prevent unnecessary battery drain)
* Inverter
* Cell booster installed
* Device charging throughout the van
*Fridge has run non stop since we got it. Solar keeps it running and batteries still charged up. If it doesn't have sun for quite a few days, it will start to drain slowly but we always have sun so it has never been an issue.
The system has served us well for weekend trips, and there is room to expand with additional batteries or solar if someone wants to build it into more of a full-time off-grid setup.
## Kitchen
* Dometic refrigerator
* Sink with an electric water pump
* Upper storage cabinets
* Three drawers
* Additional storage rack
* Magnetic portable lighting with some lighting throughout the ceiling on a switch
## Cold Weather Water System
Living in Colorado, we intentionally preferred a water system that didn't require winterizing.
Instead of fixed plumbing that can freeze, this setup uses:
* Outdoor shower bag for fresh water
* Electric pump feeding the sink
* Removable 10-gallon gray water container
It's simple, reliable, and perfect for four-season weekend travel. If someone wanted a traditional RV plumbing system for full-time van life, it could certainly be modified.
## Privacy & Bathroom
One of our favorite features is the ceiling-mounted blackout privacy curtain.
It glides smoothly on its track and completely separates the kitchen and toilet area from the front of the van. Whether you're changing clothes, using the toilet, or putting kids to bed, it's incredibly convenient and eliminates the need to cover every window first.
The curtain wraps neatly around the bed support when not in use.
The toilet compartment is hidden beneath the jump seat.
We've been using a **Trelino separating toilet**, which fits perfectly in the compartment. A cassette toilet could also be used if preferred.
## Heating & Ventilation
* Diesel heater located beneath the passenger seat
* MaxxAir roof fan over the sleeping area and another one over the 3 seat in the front.
Comfortable in a wide variety of weather conditions.
## Living Space
One feature we used constantly is the oversized desk/workspace along the rear bench.
It provides plenty of room for working remotely, kids' activities, meals, or planning trips. It also houses:
* Cell booster
* Charging outlets
* Access to storage
* Inverter compartment
The removable wood table also mounts between the swivel front seats and the second-row bench, creating another comfortable dining or work area. It is custom-made and solid wood.
Features include:
* Large overhead shelf above the driver and passenger seats
* Plenty of room for luggage and storage bins (All of our luggage fits up there with more room for luggage or bags under each seat in the 3 seat bench.
* Additional ceiling space available if future owners want to install upper cabinets
## Flexible Layout
Another benefit of this van is that it's easy to customize.
If you're buying it for one or two people rather than a family, the three-person bench could be removed to create additional living space, cabinetry, bikes, or office space, a shower and full bathroom which would free up space where the toilet cabinet is now.
## Why We're Selling
I have LOVED this van. It has been my more favorite Mom Car to date. I have used it to record my podcast, work in while kids are at sports, take client calls in, a driveway spare bedroom, a driveway office, carpool car, going to the lake and having food to cook, our own little home on wheels when we traveled to stay with family, kid travel sport mobile.
If you're looking for one vehicle that can serve as a family daily driver, road trip machine, camping rig, and adventure van, it's hard to beat this setup.
This van has never been lived in full time!
Upgrades we have considered but didn't get to:
A low-wattage A/C unit for $900 where one of the MaxAir Fans is.
An infinity shower by the kitchen or a foldable shower.
Storage box on the back
