2020 T-250 Red Ford Transit Cargo Van, low-roof, 148WB, which I’ve converted into a class-B motor home. Ford Premium Care Vehicle Service Contract (extended warranty) still remains until 11/21/26 or 100K, whichever comes first. The contract is transferrable to new owner for $75 fee. $100 deduct for ea. claim, please read Ford’s website for service contract details.
Garage-ability: We chose low roof because it fits our 7′ high x 9′ wide garage door. The rooftop A/C was added last Sept. and now would require an 8 foot high door. The SAT-TV domed antenna would require 8.5′ high door…or remove it before each trip. It was designed to be mounted or removed in 10 minutes. The low roof van gives improved handling, especially in windy conditions and improved fuel mileage.
Details of the Transit: options from factory are: Kapoor Red metallic paint, front and rear vinyl floor covering, window in sliding door, cruise control. My local Ford dealer added limited slip differential (LSD) and remote start. I have added FoMoCo front wheel well liners, FoMoCo step at passenger door extending back to include the slider and FoMoCo front and rear splash guards.
Engine – 3.5L V6 PFDI (Port Fuel & Direct Injection) which was developed to reduced carbon buildup on backside of valves. 2 sets of wheels and tires are included with van. Currently installed is a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta CR3 winter tires. (Mountain Snowflake Symbol) mounted on Transit aluminum wheels. They are the best winter tires I’ve ever used in my many years of RV-ing. The ride is better than the OEM Continental A/S Tires. I am now leaving the “Hakks” on all year long. The 2nd set is the OEM Continental A/S Tires mounted on the OEM silver painted steel wheels with 8″ black hubcaps. All 8 wheels have TPMS sensors. The Hakks have 3200 miles and the Continentals have been used for 10,200 miles. An aftermarket SiriusXM Satellite radio has been added with volume controlled by OEM buttons on steering wheel.
Notes on the build: I would best describe this as a “journey coach” rather than an “adventure van” because the 148WB is not an extended body and there is no “garage” to house adventure equipment. The van will transport 2 people safely and comfortably throughout the country.
Structural notes: Beds and partitions are made from 1″ square welded tubular steel. Walls are purchased plastic panels. Insulation is 3M 600 Thinsulate. Ceiling is boat ceiling fabric, glued (3M90) to fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). Floor is OEM black vinyl with felt underneath.
Interior Notes: Twin beds – lower bed on passenger side 83″ x 26″ with storage underneath to allow 4 large plastic totes for clothing, tools, and hookup cables. Two seatbelts are installed. The upper bed on the driver’s side is 76″ x 26.” Underneath are the refrigerator, microwave, Espar furnace M2-B4L, storage for tubular folding lawn chairs, laundry, shoes, etc. The passenger seat swivels. TV is located on the panel above the lower bed toward the rear of the van and is fed by CATV or SATTV. (receiver not included). Steel bar installed in the bathroom for hanging clothes. A nearby cabinet is used for kitchen items, food, etc. Heavy privacy curtain provided for rear bathroom area.
Toilet: 5 gallon Dometic portable toilet is located in the rear.
Electrical AC/DC 30AMP Electrical load center is housed in tower at rear of van, along with Bosch 2.5 gal 120V hot water heater, 2000W inverter, dish sat receiver (not included) and 2 Optima AGM batteries.
Water 30 Gallon fresh water tank is on driver’s side over rear-wheel well enclosed within the heat envelope. 16 Gal gray water tank is under floor in cavity on driver’s side. During temps below freezing, when not practical to use gray water tank there are two 2.5 gallon removable tanks under the sink, which can be used to collect gray water.
Roof: A/C – Houghton 9000 BTU is mounted on roof, along with MaxAir Fan and Dish Satellite domed TV antenna.
Window Coverings: Insulated window/windshield coverings made by Strawfoot, cover all 6 openings…worth every dollar!
Condition: The condition is pristine. It has always been stored in a heated garage at our home in Sheridan, WY. NO KIDS, NO PETS, NO SMOKING, NO OFF-ROAD USE, NO DINGS, NO ACCIDENTS!!! Oil & filter have been changed every 5000 miles using Mobile 1 Synthetic. All receipts and literature are in-hand. Clean, clear title in hand. We are selling the van due to my wife’s declining health.
