2019 Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 170 – Custom Cabinet Shop Build, Adventure‑Ready & Stealthy
Main description
Selling my 2019 Mercedes‑Benz Sprinter 2500 4×4 170” wheelbase, fully converted into an adventure camper van with a custom build focused on smart storage, durability, and stealth camping. The interior was built in my father’s professional cabinet shop, so the woodwork is clean, solid, and unique – true custom cabinetry quality, not a rough weekend DIY. The layout is designed for real gear‑heavy trips: bikes, surfboards, skis, and wet gear all have dedicated homes so the living space stays clean and usable.
Layout & storage
- Full‑length rear pull‑out drawer sized for a mountain bike and other bulky gear.
- Dedicated space along the side for multiple surfboards up to 9′ and/or skis.
- Additional 6′ slide‑in storage bay, accessible from both the rear and the interior, so you can grab gear from inside the van.
- Plenty of overhead and under‑bed cabinetry for clothes, food, camera gear, and other essentials.
This setup is dialed for people who travel with lots of toys but still want a clean, minimal living area.
Living, seating & workspace
- Stock captain’s chairs in the front that swivel, so you can turn them around to create a comfortable lounge/dining/work area when parked.
- Lagun‑style swivel table mounted in the living area, which can swing into different positions for extra counter space, a laptop workstation, or a dining table.
- Includes a Luno‑style inflatable mattress for the front area, so you can turn the cab into an additional sleeping space when needed.
The combination of swivel seats, the Lagun table, and the front mattress makes the van feel much more spacious and flexible for hanging out, working, or sleeping.
Shower / mudroom
The van has an enclosed shower that I primarily use as a mudroom, which has been a game changer for keeping the van dry and tidy:
- Perfect for wet skis, wetsuits, and fishing waders.
- Ideal place to stash damp or dirty gear at night so moisture and mud stay contained.
If you want to use it as a regular shower, you’ve already got the enclosure and space ready to go.
Kitchen
- Gas/propane stove in a simple, functional galley.
- Dometic CFX 75 fridge/freezer on a heavy‑duty pull‑out drawer for easy access.
- Good counter space and storage for cooking gear and pantry items.
It’s set up for real cooking on the road, not just reheating.
Cab, drivability & stealth
- 2500 diesel with no issues – smooth, reliable, and ready for long trips.
- Base model cab with Bluetooth and USB‑C on the dash, but no big infotainment screen; I intentionally chose this because it’s nicer for driving at night without a bright screen glowing in your face.
- The exterior and interior are very stealth‑friendly; combined with the custom insulated blackout curtains, it’s an excellent rig for stealth camping in cities or trailhead overnights.
Custom insulated blackout curtains are included – they help with both temperature control and keeping things discreet when you’re parked.
Wheels, brakes & maintenance
- Black Rhino rims give it a more rugged look and stance.
- Relatively new brakes overall: front brakes were done recently; rear brakes will probably be due soon (being upfront for the next owner).
- Low miles (75k) and only serviced by Mercedes dealerships, with regular maintenance kept up to date.
Known issues
- Diesel heater needs a new glow plug.
- has a few key marks… parked it in a covered secure lot and some tweaker scratched… nice…
This is a well‑thought‑out 4×4 Sprinter for someone who actually uses their gear – mountain biking, surfing, skiing, fishing – and wants a comfortable, stealthy home base on wheels.
