This vehicle was delivered to us from Sportsmobile West (Fresno, CA) in January 2020. It’s one of the last vehicles to come out of the Fresno facility before they separated from Sportsmobile and became Field Vans.
The van was shipped by train from the factory in Kansas City to Quigley in Manchester, PA. for the 4X4 conversion. After the 4X4 conversion it was shipped by truck to Sportsmobile West in Fresno, CA for upfitting.

When not on the road the van is always stored indoors.
We will truly miss this exceptionally capable van, which has been our trusted companion on countless unforgettable adventures. Throughout our travels, we’ve rarely stayed in traditional campgrounds, instead choosing the freedom and solitude of remote destinations—BLM land, secluded National Forest clearings far off the beaten path, and quiet spots at the end of winding logging roads.
Thanks to the ample onboard provisions, we’ve comfortably stayed up to five days in these pristine, off-grid locations—our only limits being the food and water we carried.
The Quigley 4×4 system (a true 4×4, not AWD) with a two-speed transfer case is incredibly robust, opening access to places many vans simply can’t reach. While my co-pilot, boss, and wife has wisely kept me from testing the most extreme trails, we’ve never been stuck—snow included.
This van has carried us to some of the most breathtaking, picturesque landscapes across the country. With its upgraded suspension, it offers a smooth, confident ride—whether cruising down the interstate or navigating what could generously be called a “road.”
As for the Sportsmobile upfitting—this is truly a high-quality, rugged build. Every detail reflects expert craftsmanship, and in all our time with it, we’ve had zero issues with their workmanship. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for—and in this case, you get excellence.
