This 2019 Ford Transit 250R High Roof is the perfect cozy spaceship to transport you anywhere in time and space. It is reliable and sturdy, providing a safe space that can travel anywhere from the highest of mountains to the lowest of deserts, among moss covered forests, through desolate fields filled with bison, to lake hikes of solitude.
This unique self conversion is equipped with everything you should need, 400W solar panels on the roof and 240Ah newly installed Lithium batteries attached to an 2000W inverter keeps the van fully powered; on cloudy days you can easily cruise around as running the vehicle also powers the batteries.
The high roof allows for a more spacious feel especially for the taller of humans (I am 5’9″). There is a weboost and hotspot allowing for optimal wifi usage. A window by the bed and a maxxair fan allow for proper ventilation during the hot summer months and full insulation provides warmth during the cooler months. I travel with the weather and flow with nature. However, for those looking for a snowy winter equipped van, there is room to install a heating system.
There is plenty of storage, a garage space in the back with easy access to the the electrical system as well as the 3, 7gallon fresh water tanks (21 gallons in total). The pull out table and bench’s in the back offer an open area for meals and more space to enjoy the outdoors. Inside the van is a plush memory foam mattress (it’s just slightly smaller than Queen size).
The kitchen offers plenty of counter space, a roomy fridge and freezer, an induction stove, and sink draining into a 7gallon grey water tank.
The living area is versatile, with an optional lagun table, and a pull out bunch which stores the portapottie.
The van has 86,000 miles; it has undergone regular oil changes, recent brake updates, and general love and care to keep it running as good as new. Ford’s are incredibly reliable and the only issues I’ve had is a cosmetic dent on the divers side as well as a scrape on the passenger side windshield, both which do not affect the functioning or visibility.
On the inside of the van there are several small quirks needing fixing - such as wobbly door handles, temperamental outlets, leaky sink, etc (the biggest being the weboost on the top is dislodged but secure, the sliding door only opens from the outside, & the max air fan on occasion decides not to spin). All of these internal issues can easily be fixed by a van conversion company or DIY if you are handy (couldn’t be me lol).
Overall, the unique build out is incredibly special to me. I am going through a transition that is requiring me to lean into stability so selling my home on wheels is very bittersweet. I am hoping it will go to a new owner who is just as passionate about adventures and connection to nature as I am; this van has provided me physical safety but much more than that, it has allowed me incredibly personal transformation.
