2018 Ram 3500 Promaster 2WD 159” wheelbase
We bought “Juicy” in August 2021 as our home away from home and since then we have been on countless adventures and thoroughly enjoyed the freedom she has awarded us. We are closing this chapter of our lives and hoping that Juicy is able to hit the open road with a new driver and crew!
The van is insulated throughout with 2” on the ceiling, 1” on the walls, and ¾” subfloor. The interior of the van was finished with tongue-and-groove cedar for the ceiling and pine for the walls. The Cabinetry is done with ½” or ¾” cabinet grade plywood. The sleeping area is roughly 75” across. We are both 5’11” and have no trouble sleeping or standing up in the van.
The electrical is one of the finer parts of the build. Installed 300 watts (100Wx3 Panels on the roof rack. These panels feed a 40A MPPT charger Controller onto a 170ah lithium battery. All components are by Renogy. It has a 2000W pure sine wave inverter with two GFCI outlets. We literally never run out of power. In 2024 we installed a back up power converter connected to the car’s main battery, that can draw power while the van is running, so that the battery never runs out!
Heating and A/C. We had a 6500-BTU Propex H2000 heater installed under the passenger’s seat (the seat is on a 360 degree swivel). Temperature control/thermostat. The heater has provided comfort (68 degrees F) with outside temperatures down in the single digits. We have a Zero Breeze Mark 2.0 portable air conditioner with a 5 h lithium battery bank.
Bathroom: 30 gal of fresh water deed a bidet sprayer in the shower area. There is a propane, on demand, hot water heater. In the shower enclosure sits a “Nature’s Head” composting toilet. The bathroom with a shower and a toilet has been amazing. Also there is literally NO smell from the toilet.
There is also a white Fiamma 45s awning installed on the passenger side of the van, to easily create a comfortable and shaded outdoor area. This is perfect for camping and creating a nice atmosphere right outside the side door of the van!
