2017 Promaster Off-grid and Low Milage

This is Ramblin’ Rose. This van conversion has all the comforts of home and is designed to live completely off-grid. It is a four-season van, well insulated, with toilet, shower, refrigerator, stove-top & oven, heater, kitchen sink, water heater, water filtration system, a solar electrical system and much more. As a family of 3 (+dog) we lived in the van and traveled for 6 months in the US and Canada, since then the van has had minimal use for an occasional weekend outing. Now it is time for her to ramble on with someone new.  

The conversion is built on a 2017 Ram ProMaster 3500 series chassis with 159″ wheelbase, extended cab, high roof and a gasoline engine. The van engine and cab have been very well maintained and regularly serviced including a new battery. New tires were mounted approx. 5000 miles ago – there is also a set of unmounted studded tires included, as well as a set of snow chains.

Water/Plumbing: PEX push fittings and piping, heat trace on piping for cold weather, GIRARD 2GWHAM Tankless Water Heater (new in 2023), deep SS kitchen sink, swivel hot and cold Delta faucet, SS Delta soap dispenser, Delta shower head and mixer, Thetford 5 gallon flushable cartridge toilet C223-CS with matching shower tray, Clearsource 2 stage water filter 20 and 5 micron (brand new filters), Shurflo 4008-101-E65 water pump (new in 2023), 40 gallon fresh water tank, 32 gallon grey water tank.

Solar System and Electrical: All electrical wiring is stranded flexible wire. Two (2) LG solar LG360Q1C-A5 360-watt solar panels, Midnite solar classic 150 charge controller, Magnum energy MS2012-20B pure sine 2000-watt inverter, new (2024) Battle Born 270Ah 12V LiFePO4 Deep Cycle GC3 Battery, DC fuse box and AC breaker box, four AC receptacles.

Propane system: Suburban 3206A Gas Range with Conventional Burners, 17” oven w/Piezo Ignition, Suburban (2446ABK Nt-20SEQ) Furnace with wall thermostat, Manchester (6817) 12″ x 32″ ASME Propane Tank (11.28 gallon / 69 pound). We added an external connection to the propane tank to allow for outdoor use. There is a propane sensor/alarm to detect gas leaks in the living area.

General: Polyiso insulation throughout the van, Maxxair fan, Heavy duty Aluminess rack and ladder, 50 Inch Double Row Series Dual Row LED Light Bar, Fiamma F45s Awning, swivel passenger seat, Norcold DE0788B 3.1 cu. ft. Refrigerator (120AC/12DC/24DC, with Fan and Black Door), lighting is all low voltage LED installed with dimmers, mofi router with external antenna to provide internet for the vehicle, heat trace has been installed on the piping close to the vehicle shell with a temperature switch, level gauges for the fresh and grey water tanks and the propane tank, custom insulated window covers (for all windows), and bug screens on the sliding and back doors. Hardwood counter tops, including a pull-out dining table/counter between the back seats. We can also include the cabbunk childbed that fits over the seats in the cab if you have a little one. There is a fitted safe for storing laptops and other valuables in the rear storage area. Smoke/carbon monoxide detector in living area. The bed is incredibly comfortable, 100% organic cotton. There are cut-ins at both ends of the bed to increase head room. Beautiful wood paneling throughout.
