Hello, I’m Hunter and for the past 3 years this van has been my travel buddy. I am currently in the process of moving out of country and looking to pass the van on to the next adventurer. It served me well in the time I had it and hope it can for you too!
The conversion is designed to be used for full time living but is also a great option for those looking to use it as a vacation or weekend getaway vehicle. As full time living was the primary purpose the interior was built with plenty of storage, ease of access/maintenance, and a modern/rustic tiny home finish feel. The exterior was left unassuming for safety and discretion when necessary; while the interior design was meticulously thought out to allow space but also the ability to access everything from inside. All wrapped up in a self contained system for wherever you adventure takes you.
The Mechanical: 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 170wb 6cyl Diesel
I’ll start with the big one. The van has 155000 miles on it; however, that is not quite representative of its current state. It has been regularly maintained and many of the main mechanical systems have been replaced or serviced. I planned to live long term so I fixed things even if they were slightly worn as I wanted it to last for many years to come.
-A complete new engine was put in at 122000 miles (Had to be replaced due to debris falling in accidentally during an intake manifold service)
-Rear axles and diff were replaced shortly after
-Front steering and drive around the same time
-Exhaust was totally replaced this year (All the way from the engine to the tail pipe, DPF and all)
-Brand new BF Goodrich KO2 tires
There were many other smaller fixes as well. All in all a large portion of the main mechanicals are closer to 33000 miles. The work was all done professionally at Sun Motors Mercedes in Mechanicsburg Pa and is on file there. I can get more details if needed. The van was also serviced regularly there as shown on the Carfax. Overall the mechanicals of the van are in very good condition and ready for the many adventures to come.
Exterior:
-Simple and unassuming. It was left plain in order to afford safety and the option to be discreet if necessary. Modeled to look like a work van at a quick glance.
-Shore power plug for a normal extension cord on driver side rear
-Starlink mount above passenger door
-Water resistant rubber sealed cable port for Starlink
-Five 100w solar panels on Roof
-Two Maxxair 5100k fans offer excellent ventilation and keep the van cool
-Window area on rear doors and side door were left untouched to allow for windows to be put in if desired.
Interior:
The interior has a modern finish with some rustic elements. The white contrasted with the wood and blues offers a relaxed yet modern look throughout the van.
-Cool and warm dimmable lighting options allow for any mood you are in. Floor and ceiling lights are all separated so you can turn on all or just one
-The walls and cabinets are covered in waterproof and water resistant materials to allow for easy cleaning
-The floor is a waterproof plank flooring
Living/sleeping area
-Accessible from the cab, no need to get out
-Ample cabinet storage for necessities and gear for your adventures. Backpacks, ropes, poles, climbing rack, etc.
-Bed can sleep up to two by opening the side flaps into the aisle and runs lengthwise to accommodate taller individuals.
-Bed also doubles as the sofa
-The lagoon table swings in front of the middle cabinet to create a desk/work area
-Desk/work area has 120v AC
-120v AC outlet with two USB pots on decorative wall near the floor
-Blackout covers for Cab windows
-Removeable electric air conditioner and heater. A diesel heater can easily be added under the passenger seat if one desires to.
Kitchen
-Custom butcher block counter top with stainless steel sink
-Plenty of cabinets and drawers
-Open overhead area for pans, pots, snacks, or anything you want quick access too from inside or outside the van
-Single burner Jet Boil base camp stove
-Dometic CFX3 45 fridge. Top open to keep cold air in and reduce energy usage.
Bathroom
-Room is a sealed wet room. No shower currently but one can easily be added to the system thanks to its simplicity. I never really found a need for one as I usually bathed other places. Primarily used it for wet gear.
-Natures head Composting toilet, vented out the floor of the van. Can be removed with one hand screw when it needs to be emptied. Does not need removed to empty the liquid container
Water system:
-All plumbing is localized under the sink. It is easy to access and there is no need to worry about pipes in the walls freezing. Any fix or addition can be done simply and easily
-Five 7 gallon water tanks. One grey, three fresh, and one extra. This allows greater freedom when filling the water. Instead of being limited to where the van can be parked, the tanks can be removed and carried if need be. This is very helpful for water fill-ups at stores and getting natural water in the backcountry.
-Quick disconnect water tanks. While you have to open the back door to remove the tanks, you can reach over the kitchen counter inside and pop the hose on a new tank if one runs out.
-12v pump and pre pressure chamber for smooth flowing water
-Acuva UV water filter and sediment filter
Electrical:
-5 Renogy 100w solar panels on roof
-Three 100ah Renogy lithium batteries. Located under the bed and sectioned off for safety.
-Renogy Rover 60A charge controller
-2 Cut-off switches. One for the panels and one for the batteries
-Renogy 3000w inverter
-Fuse box
-2 individual (in line and replaceable) fuses for batteries and solar panels
-Electrical panel access is behind a hidden panel in the decorative wall between the bed and bathroom
-Bluetooth addition so that you can view the charge status and component health on your phone
Extras:
-Starlink included
-Zipper bug wall on the side door
-Extra bug wall for side door (magnet version – brand new / never used)
-Removeable electric AC and heater. I hardly used them but they are nice to have
-Def fluid refill
-Extra sediment filter
-Fire extinguisher
-CO sensor
-Roof exit kit for a wood burning stove. I intended to put one in but never did. Kit is yours if you want it.
-Modularity and additions were taken into account when it was built so that the next owner could easily tailor it to their needs if they wanted to.
-All blankets and pillows shown
-Set of plates, silverwear, and other cookware
-First Aid kit and other cleaning supplies
-Dewalt battery powered vaccum
Defects:
– The Driver side seat edge is slightly worn and was like that when I purchased it. Not ripped or anything just creased.
-Small chip on passenger side of the front window. It was professionally sealed/repaired.
As I mentioned before the van has served me well over the past few years. It is in good working order and ready for the next person to take it on an adventure. Please let me know if you have questions or are interested.
