2017 Ford Transit 250 High Roof XL with 176,000 miles but new engine at 55,000 miles. Regular oil changes and maintenance and two brand new tires. I added on a JVC touchscreen bluetooth capable stereo and speakers in the back under the bed. I also added cruise control. It also has a back up camera in the rearview mirror. We added a swivel on the passenger seat. If you are looking to go van life I love the Transit for the drivability, extra high roof, and the plentiful cup holders!
The back of the van is where the bulk of the work was done! Cherry wood from the floor to the walls to the ceiling, even flex trim with a cherry coating on the door liner so when the door is closed there is hardly any factory metal showing, it really feels like you are in a wood cabin! There is a HUGE closet with a hanging bar and a cubby hole to access the overhead storage. Underneath the closet is the pull out slide for the dometic compressor fridge model cfx65 60L.
Kitchen area: 11x13in sink that is 9in deep, and has a moen faucet. The under sink compartment is for the gray water tank. It has a shut off switch under the sink as well as all the plumbing necessary, all you need is a new gray water tank.
Storage: THE MOST storage of any van we have ever seen! Above the sink there are three cabinets and to the left of the sink are three drawers. One of them is more shallow for silverware and the other two are nice and deep for maximum food storage. There are two open air shelves, one on the left of the kitchen cabinets as well as a larger one on the opposite wall. Under the bigger shelf there is a couch that is one of my favorite parts of the build. It has three modes that you can switch between. One is a standard bench type seat, one is a reclining mode, and one is fully flat and extended which can act as a small bed. Underneath is a very big storage compartment. The batteries and water tank are in back so all of the benches are fully empty for storage. It is so nice to hardly ever have to get out of the van to go in back to access your belongings. The opposite side seat also has storage underneath and both of these seats have custom made cushions! In between the seats are two pull outs, the top one being a table surface for mealtime. The bottom one is a massive drawer that could be used for a composting toilet or more storage. And lastly, there are two more drawers on the end of the seats. All of these cabinets and drawers have latches that are tried and true!
Bed: The bed is raised high to maximize under bed storage. It is a Queen size platform width wise, length wise it is 4 inches short of a queen. On both sides of the bed there are cubby holes that are great for phones, fan remotes, etc.
Power: There are 4 outlets in the van. One is on a bed frame, one near the smaller seat, one in the open air cabinet, and one directly behind the driver’s seat. There is a big light that is above the sink and is on a dimmer. The van charges both from the solar panels and from the alternator when driving.
