2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 144” 4x4 Diesel with only 95,800 km / 59,500 miles, thoughtfully custom-built as a highly versatile camper that can easily transition back to cargo or passenger use.

What makes this van special is its modular design. Rather than a permanently fixed camper layout, the sleeping, kitchen and seating components can be configured or removed depending on how you want to use the van.

The interior was custom-built in Russian plywood with beautiful black walnut finishing, creating a warm, durable and unusually refined space. The three-section custom mattress system forms a king-size bed, supported by boxes that provide generous storage underneath. The mattress can be removed revealing the open middle section when more cargo space is needed.

Both front captain’s chairs swivel to face the living area, creating a comfortable salon/dining space with a removable table. Passenger seating is also flexible, with a 3-person bench plus an additional single passenger seat, allowing the interior configuration to change according to travel, passenger or cargo needs.

The kitchen unit is removable and includes a sink and water pump, two-burner stove and refrigerator. The water system includes a 70L fresh-water tank, grey-water tank and hot-water heater, along with a shower accessory.

The electrical system includes 200W of solar (2 × 100W panels), a 2000W inverter, and two new 6V gel batteries wired as a 12V house system, providing approximately 220–250Ah / 2.6–3.0kWh nominal capacity.

The van is insulated with rock wool panels and a vapour barrier and equipped with a Webasto diesel heating system, providing a well-insulated and comfortable interior for extended-season travel.

Additional features include screened doors, custom curtains throughout, insulated/privacy shades for the windshield and front side windows, roof rack and access ladder, interior lighting, extensive storage, and four winter tires on rims.

The van has been garage stored since purchase and primarily used for short trips during the summer months, which is reflected in its unusually low mileage. It has never been in an accident and has been maintained according to the Mercedes-Benz recommended service/mileage schedule.

It has travelled with us as a camper, but one of the things we have most appreciated is its adaptability: camper, passenger van and cargo van in one vehicle. The 144” wheelbase keeps it compact and manageable while still providing a king-size sleeping area, full kitchen and water system, salon, passenger seating and substantial storage.
