2016 Ford Transit 2WD

Meet Mushu/ The Vanborghini / every other endearing nickname this beauty has acquired! This van is currently located in Michigan but can be delivered out of state.

This is a well-designed, perfectly functioning van conversion. This van is a perfect combo of professional (carpentry/electric) + home handyman build – meaning you have a professional where it matters at a cost that is not going to break the bank.  You are looking at a 2016 Ford Transit with only 75k miles and no mechanical issues.  The main features of this build include: ample storage space, electric system that will always keep you powered, a simple water system, and a clean design.  

This van is a low roof, so it is recommended for a traveler doing less than a few months at a time or a full-timer who doesn’t plan to spend all their time inside the van.  The pros we found with a low roof are better gas mileage, easier manueverability (especially in high wind or storms), ability to park in garages, ability to go through drive-thoughs, easieras a daily driver, and extra stealth.  The con is that you cannot fully stand in it. We used this mainly for week to month long trips for 2 people in various climates and never felt overly crammed inside. 

The nitty gritty….

Storage:

• 4 large sliding drawers under bed
• 1 additional compartment underbed (great for storing tools, etc)
• Compartment underbed that houses electrical system
• Large over bed cabinet 
• Kitchen cabinet with two spacious shelves
• Under sink storage (Perfect space for the simple water system + cleaning supplies)
• Large nook to store any gear - sized to fit storage bins and was a great size for all of odd shaped gear

Kitchen:

• Simple water system 
• Sink with cutting board top 
• USB charged self pumping faucet that is portable (very nice option if you want to pump water outside of the van/ etc)
• Slide out refrigerator 
• Kitchen cabinet with two shelves
• We used a portable camp table and camp stove for cooking.  We always cooked outside of the van to avoid smells and much preferred this option. The MaxxAir fan can be used if cooking inside is desired. 

Electric System:

A specialized electrician completed this van so you can rest assured everything is done properly and without some of the fears of a DIY build. The system will always stay charged by 3 power options: vehicle’s alternator (charges while driving), solar, or you can plug in the system to any shore power hookup (great for trickle charging or RV hookup)

• Must note: the windshield is cracked.  TBH, I drove it with it cracked for the past year and kind of became blind to it
