Lucy is a 2015 170″ MB Sprinter 3500 heavy duty, high payload dually, custom ordered from the factory as a 4×4 crew cab with factory heated MB swivel captains chairs and the towing package. The original owner insulated (using thinsulate) and paneled the van with Duramax fabric adding a MaxxAir MAXXFAN ventilation fan, an Eberspracher D2 diesel-fired heater, and an AndroidAuto/CarPlay capable Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS head unit with Rockford Fosgate amps for entertainment. The current owners took this well built foundation and created a purpose built vehicle to support adventure travel and mobile work, but left the design flexible enough to accommodate trips to the lumber yard to bring home 16′ dimensional lumber, full sheets of plywood or other project/garden supplies or recreational items like kayaks, snow skis or snow boards.
Lucy has traveled much of the upper PNW coast; from the Redwoods of CA, along the Oregon Coast, through WA to Vancouver Island in Canada (yes she took a ride on a ferry). A WeBoost Drive Reach RV cell phone booster ensures that if there’s any cell signal to be had you will maintain reception and have access to the world.
Currently Titled and licensed as a passenger vehicle in Oregon, she could easily be retitled as an RV with the addition of a cooking device – you have options.
Key Features & Upgrades
- 4×4 drive train: while not intended for serious off road use (this is the long wheelbase 3500 HD cargo version), Lucy has been on logging roads in the forest and with front and rear sets of chains (included), you will always be able to get to your favorite snowboarding/skiing area. Central open aisle design provides transport/storage for kayaks, skis, snowboards or any other sports gear.
- Safety: A Viper 5706V CANbus integrated alarm system will notify you of tampering or attempted entry. The ScanGuageII connects to the CANbus through the ODBII port providing digital gauges to monitor current engine/drivetrain conditions.
- Camping Essentials: a partial kitchen (no stove or oven) with hot/cold running water and a marine grade Isotherm CR-85 refrigerator make meals on the road or at campsite just a little easier. Upright fridge design and mounting provides easy access to food without bending over or pulling out half of the items to get to the one you want in the bottom. Lucy currently has 6 gal fresh and grey water tanks but carries an additional 10gal of drinking water in 2.5gal dispensers. A larger stainless steel grey water tank is included but not yet installed. A split section convertible bed using Froli RV mattress springs and twin mattresses provides two sleeping options. Either side can be lowered for individual use with a sleeping bag, or both sides can be lowered and fitted double bed sized sheets hold the two mattresses together making a very comfortable double bed. Pillows store above the bed sides when closed and the bed linens store in an RB Components shelf above the cockpit area. When not in use, the beds fold away providing additional seating space. A stow-able center aisle table provides room for 4 to socialize and eat; a small utility table attaches to the kitchen module to provide additional space for food prep. Pocket stowage in the rear provides storage space for your fireside chairs. A hitch mountable cargo basket with waterproof cover is included to carry bulky items that you wouldn’t want to carry inside the van (like propane tanks).
- Comfort & Utility: Factory heated front seats swivel to provide a forward lounging area. Woven textured fabric covered paneling provides visually appealing and quiet and sound deadening interior. A Lagun swivel table mounted to the driver’s seat pedestal provides both driver and passenger extra space while driving or a mobile work surface from the passenger’s seat when swiveled to the rear. A remote controlled MAXXFAN ventilation fan, and an Eberspracher D2 diesel furnace with the high altitude kit and muffler will ensure that you are comfortable wherever Lucy takes you; from the sunny beach to the snow covered mountains. Full length wall mounted cargo tracks are used to secure the removable modules and provide additional mounting points as needed. 12V LED general lighting in the center aisle ceiling is augmented by 12V LED task lighting over the kitchen counter. The center aisle lighting can be powered by either the house battery or the vehicle battery (tying it to the rest of the vehicle’s door lighting). 12V USB type A outlets, and 12V general purpose outlets (cigarette lighter style) are available in the kitchen and on both sides of the bed. Abundant storage is provided by shelving that runs along both sides of the van. Cargo nets provide an easy method of securing items while allowing the shelves to be slightly overstuffed. A GoalZero solar generator provides house DC (12V) as well as AC (110V) power; the AC powers the WeBoost Drive Reach cellphone booster. The solar generator is continuously recharged by 300W of solar panels on the roof and is augmented by a Victron 700W inverter connected to the Van’s
- Condition: Very low mileage (sub 42,000) and very good condition. Maintenance records are available as well receipts for most major systems/components. Current on all maintenance. Since this was owner(s) built many spare parts and materials convey.
Lucy is ready to hit the road again with new owners. Serious inquires only, please. DM with questions, for more photos, a video walk through, or to schedule a test drive.
