I bought this van with 11,000 miles in 2017. It now has less than 37,000 miles. The van has been professionally maintained by Sprinter Pitstop.
Has the 2.1 L Twin Turbo diesel motor with 7 speed auto trans and gets 16-18 around town and 22 on road trips.
I had the Mercedes emissions modification done last year so a lot of the emissions and engine components have a very extended warranty.
A lot of the camper install work was done already but the owner had a change of circumstances, and it was not the right vehicle for him. He had built it as a stealth camper so there were no windows other than the front doors and windshield. He had installed the Fantastic Fan, solar, batteries, cabinets. and bed with memory foam mattress with a topper.
Over the years we have modified it to fit our lives with the plan to gut it and rebuild the interior when we landed on a plan.
I upgraded the Solar charger to a Bluetooth Victron.
I had a well known van conversion company here in SD install the CRL windows in the slider and behind the driver’s door. They work perfectly. I removed the wood inside the van myself and reinstalled it but never got around to finishing the trim.
The bed is about a queen size at the rear of the van. I’m 6-1 and sleep like a baby on the memory foam mattress.
We set the tables up with a short set of legs so the kids can sleep on their own bed. They have the space of about a twin bed. It’s not an optimal situation. If I kept the van I would move the kitchen to the passenger side and build a small bench/bed on the driver’s side then add a fold down bunk over it so you can move around while the kids are sleeping.
Underneath the bed is a garage for gear and bikes with a movable passthrough storage chest between the garage and living area that allows for up to 20’ lumber or a twin kayak to be carried inside
In the left rear is a small compressor for inflating tires.
I personally added the twin bench seat from a Ford Transit. The mounting rails are bolted through the floor with steel plate and 6 Grade 8 bolts. I shortened the left side cabinet to make space for the bench seat which is removable and can fit alongside the left wall behind the driver’s seat. That said I am not a certified installer so it is still a Cargo Van, not a Crew. I have a second set of rails mounted to 2X4 that allow you to remove the bench seat and use it as a sofa inside the van.
Both front seats are mounted on Sportcraft Swivels.
Van has a sink with 5 gallons fresh and grey water onboard with a switched electric pump. (VLT site only has down to 10 gallons as an option)
In the kitchen cabinet is a large ARB Classic 50 quart AC/DC fridge that works great.
I added the Flatline Van Co roof rack, FVC ladder, and Fiamma F45S awning and moved the solar to the roof rack.
The ceiling is ¼” T&G cedar with 8 LED lights.
Ceiling is insulated with Havelock Wool.
I installed a 2 piece table so up to 8 people can sit inside.
October 2019 I installed 17” XD wheels with 255/70R17 BGG All Terrain KO2. They drive great. They have about 15, 000 miles on them.
Transmission fluid and filter was serviced at 21,000 miles
Brake Fluid flushed 2 years ago.
Brake pads, rotors, turbo and intake hoses, fuel filter, rear differential fluid, and engine oil done at 31,000 miles
Installed Sprinter Pitstop Catalytic Converter anti-theft shield
Installed Driver and Passenger swivels from Eurocampers.com
Kenwood double DIN stereo with Apple and Android interfaces. I added a microphone and it is SIRI ready.
The 200 AH of AGM batteries under the passenger seat are about 4 years old and are actually doing OK. I initially thought they needed replacement but they are hovering around 12.4 V overnight. If I kept the van I would replace with more robust Lithium. I keep the ARB fridge running all the time as well as the rooftop fan to keep the van cool.
I would absolutely drive this van to Alaska tomorrow without hesitation. I planned on keeping it forever but now that I have 2 growing kids it’s not a good fit anymore.
I have a current Carfax report I can send on request.
My woodworking skills are not great but the van is functional. It would be a great van for someone with the skills and time to make it perfect.
