-this is a DIY build and an older vehicle, so there are definitely some quirks. This has been my full time driving vehicle for 1.5 years and full time living for the past couple of months. It’s functional and reliable, but you’ll want to be at least a little bit handy for routine vehicle and interior maintenance. It has provided some incredible experience, is surprisingly capable for 2wd and perfect for stealth camping.
The quirks:
-sliding door sticks
-interior build could use a little TLC, nothings broken but it’s clearly been well used
-bunk window on drivers side sometimes leaks if parked at the wrong angle when it’s raining
-back doors take some muscle to close and latch
-power steering hose has a pin hole leak, I simply topped off the fluid as needed and never had a problem. It’s an easy repair for a couple hundred bucks
-would recommend switching fridge to 12v options or getting a higher wattage inverter. It always draws power, but inverter would occasionally flash and error signal.
Full transparency with all known details and the van is priced accordingly. It gets great gas mileage and is one of the rare earlier Mercedes Diesel engines—easier to repair and has a lifetime for several hundred more miles.
