Why T1N?
T1N refers to first generation Sprinters that have a variety of benefits related to their engine. In 2007 diesel emission laws forced significant changes to newer sprinter engines.
Here’s why T1N’s have a cult following:
- Simplistic 5 cylinder diesel engine that is easier to work and DIY.
- Because of the differences related to the 2007 emission laws: T1N engines get 22-25 MPG compared to newer years getting 14-17!
- They also have no problem taking all forms of diesel (ULSD, LSD, BIO); this is critical in allowing you to take a trip south of the border where diesel is not the same as in the US without having to worry about it!
- These engines last forever (literally, check out million mile sprinter)
