Meet Rover! Our 2000 Chevy Express 3500 was lovingly upgraded and updated when we purchased it a few years ago. Inside this high top van we created a space that was perfect for our needs of traveling and working.
When building this van out we prioritized a spacious feel with extremely large convertible bed that makes the interior feel like a small apartment. The large custom table is easily raised via the pneumatic gas lift leg, and you instantly have a large area for working, eating and playing.
Other features of this van include a custom made kitchen with sink, two 7 gallon jugs for water and one 7 gallon jug for grey water. Pull out induction cook top, large drawer for accessories, under sink cupboard with lots of space for kitchenware, microwave, large fridge and kitchen shelves.
There is also a double kitchen cupboard next to the side sliding door with plenty of space for food and it also houses the trash can. Above the kitchen is a door with a mount for a small 14-17inch TV (TV not included) and behind the door is an extremely large over-cab storage area.
With multiple top and side doors to the under-bed garage area, you will be able to fit all your camping supplies. It has a bin for laundry and has been designed with a door that is the perfect size to slide a Boxio composting toilet into (Boxio not included). Both the rear and side sliding doors have bug screens as well. Plus we painted the high top roof with a UV reflective paint and insulated all the walls of the van.
Where the high top has been added we placed a shelf that goes around 3 sides of the van giving you lots of surface areas for placing things overnight. The rear shelf above the bed has three large bins for extra storage. The furnishings (curtains, handles, hinges, vinyl wood flooring, table and kitchen tops, cushion case storage) were thoughtfully chosen for a cohesive feel. Under the back shelf we have even hidden a pull down projection screen for movie night.
There are lots of beautiful strip lights, usb puck lights on the ceiling and usb charging ports and standard wall plugs in the van. All electrical items and outlets are connected to an outlet under the bed that can be plugged into your portable battery or shore power.
The previous owners worked the van hard and ran up many miles so we made sure to repair everything that was necessary and even upgraded some things with moderate wear just for peace of mind.
Some of the updates include new fuel pump, all new rear brakes and drums, AC, new tires, new spark plugs, new computer motherboard, and more. We took care of the van so we could enjoy it with peace of mind when on the road. With that said, this is an older model so it is sold “as is”. We also had fun updating the front cab with a blue interior to match the decals which where added to the exterior of the van.
We have loved every second camping and traveling in this van and hope you will too.
