My journey is at an end! 5 years I’ve lived on the ambo, circling the US as a state and county fair caricaturist, living off grid and saving to buy a house overseas! As i am leaving, it is time to pass her on to the next adventurer. Its been raining 5 days non stop in michigan, I gave up and took photos of her in the rain; shes covered in leaves and theres wet spots and sorry i didnt photoshop the photos- im trying to be as truthful as possible and display an actual live/work vehicle that has done it in spades.
This ambo has what a lot of listings dont: proof of life. This hasnt been sitting in storage for years and rotting, this is driven 18k miles a year and LIVED IN. This has had, above and beyond, the loving and regular maintenance and attention that is required of living on the road full time. Its also not pretty and fancy inside because, again, i lived in it. I didnt want comfort when i built it, i wanted function. There are solar panel wires exposed and hanging from the ceiling, so i could unplug them and move them to my booth. The fridge sits on the floor, so i could take it off and move it to my booth, and etcetera. This wasnt a vacation vehicle, this was and is a working vehicle- in every definition of the term. This ambo is ready to take you on the road IMMEDIATELY. Engine and transmission are eager to rack up tens of thousands more miles.
454 big block 7.4L 8cyl 4×4 gas engine that has taken me off road, over mountains, through the desert, over 3 countries, and more. Purchased at 88k miles, now has 144k miles. 10-11mpg on average.
Complete engine rebuild done about 20k miles ago. New head gasket, cylinder head, 2 new pistons, manifold, cam bearings, lifter kit- everything. Replaced alternator, new batteries, new pads rotors calipers, fuel pump, oil pump, power steering pump, torque convertor, control arms, pittman arm, rag joint, radiator, ac, all of it. I have put TONS of work over the years to make sure the ambo never left me late or stranded.
Inside comes equipped with everything. Two yeti goalzero 400’s chained to 2 exterior batteries each doing a total of 2400watts stored power, supplied by 400 watts renogy panels on the roof. Laveo dry flush toilet. Bodega fridge freezer and an additional 55 quart alpicool electric cooler. Camplux tankless hot water heater for the shower, all supplied by a 50 gallon water tank installed where the lights were. Air conditioner and a 3500watt generator that has never been used once, brand new out of the box. Other goodies like portable jump kit, CO2 detectors for the inside, every cable and adaptor needed for running everything.
I just finished my last spin around the country as of Oct 18 2025. this vehicle is ready to hit the road immediately and do another 20k mile run circling the country. This vehicle is in constant and regular use and is 100 percent road ready.
Here’s the stuff that i never got to:
dashboard is a mess. gauges barely work, blower works half the time, no alarm sounds mean you better remember to take the keys out of the ignition and turn off the headlights.
abs sensor light is blinking because i broke the sensor when working on the brakes.
Alignment is off and it pulls to the right, as shown in the brand new tires that are already uneven after this year’s 20k mile trip, as control arms and suspension and every aspect of the steering has been repaired, most likely the gearbox is causing the drift.
drivers side door can’t be opened from the inside, gotta roll down the window and open from the outside.
Wiper fluid reservoir has leak
very small exhaust leak as the muffler replace is 95 percent finished. Occasionally triggers a service engine light for an o2 sensor code
camp stove is filthy, you want to throw it away.
One of the solar panels is coming undone and causing a roof leak, leaking onto the mattress. Im assuming you will toss the mattress.
