1995 Dodge B350/B3500 full-size camper van with the 5.9L Magnum V8, automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive, and approximately 40,078 original miles. Asking $12,500 OBO. Clean Virginia title in hand, owned outright with no lien, and zero known accident history. Currently located in the Coronado / Point Loma area of San Diego, CA 92110.
This is a low-mileage Dodge platform with a thoughtfully built, self-contained camper conversion. It is not a bare cargo van or a half-finished project—the expensive electrical, mechanical, camper, fabrication, and corrosion-prevention work is already done. I have more than $11,000 invested in documented parts and upgrades alone, before counting the van itself or any labor.
CAMPER / INTERIOR
• Warm wood-paneled interior with insulated walls/ceiling and wood-look flooring
• Convertible sleeping platform/bed, storage, seating, and a fold-down table/work area
• Refrigerator, LED lighting, USB charging, 120V outlets, interior fans, and practical storage
• Diesel heater for cold-weather camping
• MaxxFan roof vent for ventilation
• Side-door access and a layout designed for real travel and camping rather than a cosmetic show build
• All door weatherstripping has been replaced; no leaks reported
POWER / OFF-GRID ELECTRICAL
• Roof-mounted solar system, approximately 400W
• Approximately 245–250Ah AGM house-battery capacity
• Renogy DC-to-DC / MPPT charging system
• Bluetooth monitoring and digital system-health readout
• 1600W inverter
• Rear shore-power connection with a dedicated charger
• Heavy-gauge alternator-to-house-battery wiring
• Automatic charging of the house system after the starting battery is topped off
• House electrical system can assist or jump the starting battery if needed
• New Optima YellowTop starting battery, approximately $350
• WeBoost Drive X cellular booster
MECHANICAL / MAINTENANCE
A Shift Rite replacement automatic transmission was installed in October 2024 at a cost of approximately $2,679. The original transmission was still functioning, but its valve-body seals were deteriorating, so I replaced it proactively rather than wait for a failure. The van then completed approximately 3,500 miles of cross-country travel after the replacement without reported transmission problems.
Recent maintenance and parts include brake work, hubs, driveshaft U-joints, rear coil-over shocks, belt tensioner, fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor components, ignition coil, air filter, radiator/coolant service, differential fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, power-steering fluid, and additional preventative mechanical work. The van also has relatively new tires; approximately $2,250 was invested in the tire setup.
EXTERIOR / BUILD
• Rugged textured protective exterior coating
• Full undercarriage corrosion-prevention coating; essentially zero rust
• Rooftop deck/rack with ladder
• Roof solar and camper ventilation
• Rear-mounted spare setup
• Owner-built and serviced by an experienced journeyman mechanic
• Pioneer head unit with Kicker 6×9 speakers—approximately $400 in audio parts, not counting installation
HONEST DISCLOSURES
This is a 30-year-old vehicle, and buyers should inspect it as they would any used vehicle. There is an intermittent accessory-drive pulley/idler-type squeak that I suspect is related to an idler pulley, but it has not been definitively diagnosed and does not currently affect drivability. After a wheel-balancing weight came off, I noticed a slight vibration above roughly 75 mph; the wheel balance should be checked. The exterior radio antenna was broken/stolen and needs replacement for normal AM/FM reception. These items are disclosed up front and reflected in the asking price. Last thing is, some of the interior may look slightly unfinished as seen in the photos but thats easy to take care of for any DIYer. I just ran out of time to really get it looking sharp.
WHY I AM SELLING
I am selling because of orders to Alaska/Kodiak and downsizing—not because the van is being sold after a catastrophic failure. This is a good fit for someone who wants a low-mileage Dodge camper platform with substantial money already invested in solar, charging, batteries, shore power, inverter capacity, heating, ventilation, mechanical maintenance, corrosion protection, and fabrication.
Serious buyers are welcome to inspect it in the San Diego area. I can discuss the work in detail and provide supporting photos of the transmission replacement, brakes, shocks, electrical system, engine bay, camper features, and build. I have a ton more photos only for serious potential buyers. Nationwide transport is welcome at the buyer’s expense; I will facilitate carrier pickup and loading.
