OVERVIEW
Offered for sale is an exceptionally well-equipped, meticulously constructed 2024 Ford Transit Trail AWD camper van featuring a premium, owner-built conversion designed around durability, functionality, serviceability, safety, and a discreet, stealth exterior.
This is not a typical DIY camper conversion. The build incorporates carefully selected premium components, marine-grade hardware and plumbing, custom 80/20 aluminum cabinetry, stainless-steel fasteners, Corian countertops, and high-quality insulation and interior finishes.
The goal was to create a comfortable, fully equipped camper capable of transporting five passengers, sleeping three or more, and providing substantial off-grid capability without the size or obvious appearance of a traditional RV.
The conversion has only recently been completed and has seen approximately 10 weekend camping trips, primarily while attending tennis tournaments.
VEHICLE HISTORY, MILEAGE & CONDITION
One of the most important distinctions about this van is how its mileage was accumulated.
For approximately two years, the Transit Trail also served as a daily driver, primarily making a short commute of approximately 6 miles each way to and from work.
The van was garage kept at both home and work, helping protect it from prolonged exposure to the elements.
Despite its factory AWD capability and rugged Transit Trail appearance, this van has never been driven off-road or on dirt trails. It has been operated exclusively on maintained paved roads.
The approximately 35,000 miles reflect normal vehicle use, including commuting and highway travel, rather than extensive camper use or off-road adventures.
Importantly, the completed camper conversion has only been used for approximately 10 weekend trips. The cabinetry, sleeping system, galley, plumbing, and other interior components have therefore experienced very limited recreational use.
The van was built for personal ownership and enjoyment, not as a quick conversion for resale.
POWER & ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- EcoFlow power system with 4 kWh of currently installed battery capacity, designed for expansion to approximately 12 kWh
- 800-watt alternator charger
- Blue Sea Marine electrical components
- Power system housed within a dedicated cabinet compartment lined with aluminum and stainless steel
- Shore-power capability
- Shore-power connection discreetly mounted underneath the vehicle
- Electrical components and systems integrated within the van
- Air conditioning
- Heating system
- AirPlus roof ventilation fan
The electrical system was designed around quality components, practical off-grid capability, future expandability, and careful integration into the cabinetry.
The dedicated aluminum- and stainless-steel-lined electrical compartment reflects the attention given to protecting and organizing the power equipment while maintaining a clean interior appearance.
SAFETY & UNDERBODY PROTECTION
Safety and equipment protection were important considerations throughout the build.
- Fire extinguisher installed in the van
- Carbon monoxide detectors
- Under-chassis skid plate for protection of components beneath the vehicle
- Electrical system contained within a dedicated aluminum- and stainless-steel-lined cabinet compartment
- Marine-grade electrical and plumbing components
- Stainless-steel hardware and rivnut-mounted construction
- Concealed underbody shore-power connection
These features were selected to support practical everyday use, travel, and camping while providing additional protection for important vehicle and camper components.
INTERIOR & FUNCTIONAL LIGHTING
The lighting system was designed to provide flexibility, comfort, and a clean factory-integrated appearance.
- Color-changing interior puck lights
- Dimmable puck lighting for adjustable brightness
- Integrated lighting associated with the roof ventilation fan
- Factory Ford cargo lights repurposed for use within the camper conversion
- Original OEM lighting incorporated into the finished interior
- Multiple lighting options for everyday use, camping, and nighttime comfort
The combination of adjustable ambient lighting and retained factory lighting provides useful illumination without unnecessary exterior modifications.
SEATING & SLEEPING
- Seating for five passengers
- Sleeping accommodations for three or more (with lumo cab mattress)
- Premium French Scopema three-person convertible seat/bed
- Scopema system transforms into the primary sleeping platform
- Custom-fit 5-inch RoamRest mattress placed over the Scopema bed for additional sleeping comfort
- Flexible interior configuration suitable for family travel, weekend trips, and recreational use
The Scopema seat/bed is a major feature, providing a practical passenger seating arrangement while converting into a comfortable sleeping space.
PREMIUM CUSTOM CABINETRY & INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION
The quality of the construction is one of the defining characteristics of this conversion.
Rather than relying on conventional RV cabinet construction, the interior uses a carefully engineered combination of aluminum framing, stainless-steel hardware, and premium finished surfaces.
- Custom 80/20 aluminum extrusion cabinetry, dovetail red oak drawers
- Stainless-steel rivnuts and stainless-steel bolts throughout
- No self-tapping screws used in the primary build construction
- 1/4-inch stained maple plywood wall panels
- Red oak crown molding and trim

STEALTH DESIGN
Unlike many camper vans with obvious exterior-mounted equipment, this conversion was intentionally designed to maintain the appearance of a standard Ford Transit Trail.
Major camper components are housed inside the vehicle, and the shore-power connection is concealed underneath.
The 148-inch medium-roof configuration provides a desirable balance between usable interior space, maneuverability, and a lower-profile exterior.
This makes the van particularly well suited for road trips, sporting events, overnight parking, weekend camping, and travel where a discreet camper is preferred.
WHY THIS VAN IS DIFFERENT
This conversion was built with a level of attention to detail that is not always found in owner-built camper vans.
The emphasis was on what is behind the finished surfaces as much as what is visible:
- Stainless-steel fasteners and rivnuts rather than self-tapping screws
- Custom aluminum cabinetry rather than conventional wood framing
- Aluminum- and stainless-steel-lined power compartment
- Premium insulation and sound treatment
- Marine-grade water and electrical components
- Fire extinguisher and gas detection equipment
- Under-chassis skid plate
- Customizable color-changing and dimmable lighting
- Repurposed OEM Ford cargo lighting
- High-quality interior finishes
- Removable modular storage
- Expandable EcoFlow electrical capability
- Premium European seating and refrigeration components
- Carefully concealed exterior connections
The result is a highly customized Transit Trail designed to combine the practicality of a passenger vehicle with the comfort and capabilities of a well-equipped camper.
