1996 Ford E-150 Sportsmobile Penthouse Pop-Top

1996 Ford E-150 Sportsmobile West Penthouse Pop-Top

Genuine Sportsmobile West conversion with the Penthouse pop-top, approximately 232,000 miles, and the 5.8L EFI V8. We purchased the van in 2021 with plans to use it much more than we actually have, so it’s time for it to go to someone who will enjoy it.

This is a complete Sportsmobile conversion, not a homemade camper build. The Penthouse is in great condition and includes a removable upper bunk. The rear couch converts to a bed, and the driver and passenger seats swivel 180 degrees.

RECENT MECHANICAL WORK

Recently had all 8 spark plugs and wires and the distributor cap replaced. Air cleaner and mass airflow sensor were also serviced.

KNOWN ITEMS — FULL DISCLOSURE

• Radiator has a crack in the top tank, with minor seepage from the thermostat and water-pump gaskets. Our mechanic recommends replacing these items and quoted approximately $1,500 for the work. A mechanically inclined owner who does the work themselves could likely address it for considerably less. The mechanic said it is currently drivable while monitoring coolant, but recommends completing the repairs before taking it on any long-distance trip.

• Furnace was professionally inspected and has an old mud-dauber nest blocking the exhaust. Approximate repair estimate is $500.

• ABS warning light intermittently comes on. Les Schwab inspected it but was unable to retrieve codes because their scanner would not communicate with this older model. Van drives and brakes normally, but the ABS issue has not been diagnosed.

We have paperwork for the recent mechanical work and estimates, and our mechanic is willing to speak with a serious prospective buyer.
