2024 Ford Transit AWD

Professionally custom built 2024 Ford 3.5L Ecoboost V6 AWD Transit Van with 8,843 miles. Fully loaded, the V6 easily climbs mountain passes while keeping pace with traffic on the highways. Featured on Wondering Roots Campers as the “The Fir”, it was designed to go and fit most places we could imagine in almost any weather. The complete build included work by both Wondering Roots and Owl Vans with a lift kit and more rugged tires. Four Victron batteries and inverter system combined with two solar panels provide the ability to camp off grid or to use shore power. A 12 volt fridge, ceiling fan and A/C help keep power use to a minimum while the gas powered Espar heater/water heater keeps the interior warm on cold nights while efficiently drawing from the 31 gallon extended range fuel tank (walls and doors were also insulated in the living area). LED lighting throughout the living space includes gooseneck reading lights, recessed lighting and rope lighting for the storage and underneath cabinet areas. A 28 gal. fresh water tank supports the kitchen and indoor/outdoor shower options. An under-mounted 10 gallon grey water tank stores used water that can be emptied from an electronic switch. To ensure water quality, a water filter was added during the build. Storage cabinets, deep shelf above the cab and large garage below the bed provide numerous areas to keep items securely tucked away. An exterior modular rack system and sturdy box that also acts as a work platform helps in storing those items generally meant for outside use. Rear bump outs add space for sleeping. An extendable awning brings shade to the side of the van and can also shed rain water from the sliding door entrance. An extendable tow hitch was purchased for hauling a bike rack that doesn’t interfere with the storage box. A fully enclosed shower and toilet make it a complete camper. Additional items include privacy shades for all of the windows, hose adapter to fill the water tank, pigtail for hooking up to shore power, a screen for the sliding door with magnetic fasteners, and a Ford maintenance package covering all services until July 2032 or 100,000 miles (whichever is the earlier of the two).
