We’ve made the hard decision to sell our awesome van because we are getting a truck camper to chase powder all winter long and tow our heavy fishing boat in the summer. We’re sad to see it go but it still has so much life left in it and is a true off-grid beast! We’ve been living in it full time working remotely thanks to a super beefy electrical and solar system, hot water from driving, starlink, large water tanks, a large fridge, a huge sink, and an incredible amount of storage! The van only has a little over 40,000 miles on it because we’ve had a second vehicle with us during the summers to minimize how much we have to drive the van around. We’ve stayed up to date with full synthetic oil changes and tire rotations every 5,000 miles, and recently had fresh rear brakes installed.
The electrical system and the plumbing system were professionally installed by a master electrician / mechanic, whom also installed a secondary alternator that provides around 160 amps to the batteries while driving.
The van feels very homey with the terracotta colors and the dark walnut butcher block counters. We didn’t want it to feel clinical or stale like a lot of the pure white or grey interiors, and we were super happy with our decision while we were living in it because it did end up feeling super homey!
A couple of our other favorite highlights that have made it easy to live in are a work space with a pullout table that converts into a queen bed in less than two minutes, and a massive counter space.
We’ve listed all of the features below, please let us know if you have any questions!
- 800 AH Victron Lithium Batteries
- Full Victron Electrical System installed by a master electrician
- 500W of Solar on the Roof
- 3000W Victron Multiplus Inverter which means AC wall outlets are placed throughout the van
- Secondary alternator that supplies 160 AH of charge to the batteries while driving (Nations secondary alternator kit, professionally installed by master mechanic / electrician)
- Isotemp Spa 15L Water Heater
- Coolant loop from the engine to the water heater that heats the water while driving and provides 4 gallons of hot water after driving (there’s also an electrical element in the water heater for boondocking or for heating up more water after you use up those 4 gallons).
- Water filter (Guzzle H2O stealth) installed before the sink that uses both a carbon block filter and a UV blacklight filter
- Dometic NRX-115S Fridge (115 liter / 4 cubic ft. of capacity) includes a freezer compartment
- Velit Air Conditioner
- Velit Heater (Can be run at up to 14,000 feet of elevation and runs on gasoline, pulls straight from the gas tank of the van. Hardly uses any gasoline and convenient to not need an additional diesel tank to supply fuel for it)
- Maxxair fan
- Starlink mount on roof (can be used while driving or sitting still) and 50 foot cord that can be plugged into the side of the van and run to an open area if parked under an obstruction. Starlink dish, roof mount, and 50 foot cord will be included
- Starlink is wired via DC, which saves a ton of power and it can be run 24/7 without making any sort of dent in the battery bank
- Dimming light switches. 3 sets of lights – one set in the front, one set over the seating area, and one set over the bed
- Back sprayer with hose with different spray modes
- Two couch cushion seating areas facing each other
- Pull out butcher block table for eating and working that locks in the closed position while driving
- Huge butcher block counter space
- Day bed that converts into a queen bed in less than 2 minutes
- Tons of storage including big drawers and cabinets
- Pull out trash can
- Pull out laundry bin
- Pull out composting toilet drawer
- Shoe cubby that can fit up to 12 pairs of shoes
- Two portable induction cooktops with adjustable wattage and temperature included
- Ninja Crispy air fryer included
- Projector mount with super heavy duty neodymium magnets that mounts to the inside of the back doors. Projector will be included. The projector screen (also included) sits on the counter and equates to the size of a 50 inch TV
- Storage cubbies on back door of the van
- Spacious garage area
- Inspection hatches that allow easy viewing and maintenance of the plumbing and electrical areas
- Bug nets/doors on the side and front of the van
- Large window on the sliding door. Window can be opened to a screen and the screen can also opened to open air.
- Large window next to the bed. Window can be opened to a screen and the screen can also opened to open air.
- Bunk window next to the bed. Window can be opened to a screen
- Insulated window covers for every window in the van (VanEssentials and The Wanderful)
- Ladder on side of the van
- Less than 45,000 miles on the van
- Insulated with 3M Thinsulate Behind all of the walls and on the ceiling
- Sound deadening material was installed before the Thinsulate
- 34 gallon freshwater tank
- 20 gallon greywater tank mounted under van
- Two ActionTrax Recovery boards with magnetic mounts to side of van included
- 100% off-grid capable for 10-14 days with two people. More if just one person. Biggest limiting factor is food if you are conserving water well. The longest we ever did was 14 days but we brought a few extra 1 gallon jugs of water with us. Power was never an issue (even when we were in the middle of our heavy work season or during the winter) thanks to the massive battery bank and solar array.
- The skeleton of the build is extruded aluminum, which helped keep the build weight down significantly. We also didn’t do any upper cabinets (did small shelves instead) to keep the center of gravity and the weight of the van lower.
- Even with two passengers, a full tank of gas, full tank of water, a bunch of groceries, a bunch of outdoor gear, clothes, and our heavy work gear, the van weighed just over 8,500 pounds on a certified CAT scale, allowing plenty more room for extra gear, water, or pets.
- Extended High Roof Version. One of us is 6’2” and there’s still 3-4 inches of room above our head when standing straight up.
- High quality Nokian Hakkapeliitta snow tires with less than 5,000 miles are currently on the van
- Aftermarket headliner shelf was installed that adds a lot more space above the front seats
