This 2020 Ram Promaster Glamper is priced to sell $3,000 below the Fair Market Value determined by Camper Van Appraisals. The 24-page appraisal report states,
“While retaining the basic external looks and characteristics of this 2020 RAM PROMASTER 3500 van, this 2-wheel drive CAMPER VAN features virtually all the options and comforts that you might expect to find in a modern full-sized motorhome. It was custom fabricated using the finest components available.”
The van can connect to shore power but offers the comforts of home while completely off grid. Everything in the van is either solar-powered or gets its power from the van itself:
- The Webasto heater runs off of the gasoline in the van’s gas tank
- The IsoTemp hot water heater is heated by the van’s antifreeze while driving and stays hot for days.
- Everything else, including the large refrigerator, runs off of batteries, although there are outlets to plug into.
HIGHLIGHTS
- A lagun table, countertops and shelf all cut from a single piece of live edge ash that along with the rustic floor, farmhouse sink, and ship lap create a farmhouse decor.
- A full shower with a Natures Head composting toilet
- A Dometic roof light over the full-size bed provides views of the night sky and cross ventilation with a MAXXAIR fan.
- A large, stainless-steel farmhouse sink with many accessories and a cover when you need counter space.
- A 20-gallon freshwater tank and 6 gallon hot water heater
- A full sized bed with a Zinus 6″ Green Tea Cooling Gell Memory Foam Mattress with Topper
- Benches that convert into an extra bed.
- MORryde Slide Out Cargo tray for easy access to under the bed storage
ELECTRICAL
The electrical system is based on the high standards set by the experts at EXPLORIST.life for the components, wiring, installation and component programming as shown in this “DIY Sprinter Camper Van Electrical Install – Full Tutorial” video from EXPLORIST.life Electrical. (https://youtu.be/01F4QDVJUq0?si=gaRo9clb7KmZNhav). Because the van uses so little electricity, I opted for a 2000w inverter instead of a 3000w inverter. The larger inverter is best for high demand appliances like a microwave or convection oven. The system consists entirely of Victron Components and Battleborn Batteries:
- Professional electrical cabinet with detachable doors for easy access (see pictures)
- 2 200W Solar Panels
- 4 100ah Battleborn Batteries
- 2000w Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger with Shore Plug
- 30A Victron DC-DC Charger
- Lynx Distributor
- Victron Bmv-712 Battery Monitor (Bluetooth Monitoring with VictronConnect + BMV-712 Display)
- Victron Smartsolar Mppt 100|30 Charge Controller
- All components can be monitored and controlled through the Bluetooth VictronConnect App on your cell phone
INTERIOR
- Webasto Airtop 2000 Stc Gasoline Heater. You can monitor and control the heater with the added SmarTemp Control 3.0 through the Bluetooth SmarTemp 3.0 App on your cell phone.
- Dometic Heki Midi Roof Light with Adapter
- Zinus 6″ Green Tea Cooling Gell Memory Foam Mattress with Topper
- Weboost Cell Signal Booster
- Baltic Birch Construction and Furnishings
- Live Slab Counter and Tabletop
- Lagun Table is removable to convert the benches into a bed
- Ikea Cabinets, Doors, And Hardware
- Ship lap On Ceiling And Walls
- Custom Cushion Covers
- Maxxair 00-06200k Fan
- Sirocco Ii Gimbal Fan
- Insulated Window Covers
- PLUMBING
- 6-gallon Isotemp Spa Hot Water Heater heated by the van’s radiator fluid. It can be plugged in but stays hot for days if necessary.
- Nature’s Head Composting Toilet
- Indoor Shower with Delta Fixtures and Nautilus Door
- Apalisade Shower Tile and Trim
- 24″ Besland Farmhouse Kitchen Sink Workstation
- Aquassana under sink 2-Stage Water Filter
- Single Handle High Arc Pull Out Kitchen Faucet. The faucet has a hose so it can be extended outside the van for rinsing off or outdoor showering
- 15 Gallon Grey Water Tank with Ball Valve with an indoor switch to empty from Inside
- 12v Water Pump
- Valterra Water Fill
INSULATION
The van is extremely well insulated mostly with thinsulate and with Havelock wool in areas that needed to be stuffed. There is an insulated wall between the cab and living area which makes a huge difference. It would be nice to have the additional seating, but the wall provides scarce space for the sink and shower. Even with window covers, it is much harder to heat and cool the cab/van. No air conditioning, but there is ample room on the roof and back doors to add AC. In the year that I traveled, I followed the good weather. The van is surprisingly cool with the fans on and the skylight and doors open. There were a few times when it was so hot that I drove for an hour or so to a campground at a higher elevation.
