Certified Class B camper van & what it means:
Safe: A campervan that is manufactured & certified meets/exceeds all FMVSS highway safety standards.
Insurance Considerations:
Insurance companies can insure a Grit Overland Certified Class B as an RV with full RV valuations, which means you’ll get industry standard valuations (Grit actually has a Blue Book Value in the case that it needs to be repaired/replaced). Compare this to a DIY built campervan: Insurance companies look at the VIN for valuation, and the VIN on a DIY build is for an empty cargo van. A typical 2020 – 2024 van chassis is valued between $30k & $60k for insurance replacement value. If you have a $120k – $200k campervan that is damaged in an accident, you’re severely underinsured for replacement.
