2020 FORD TRANSIT 350 HD HR CARGO
High roof, 148” wheel base, extended
3.5L Ecoboost V6 Gas engine
Dual rear tires
I’m a solo senior female traveler, and this van has been very reliable. It’s been a workhorse, often driving at highway speeds all day long for days in a row. I chose the Ford Transit because it’s much easier to find a repair shop and get standard parts. This is the largest van available, and very roomy inside. My 6′ friends can stand upright with inches to spare.
My dog and I lived and traveled in the van for a year while I waited for my housing to be ready. I’ve moved into my permanent place now, so I need to sell the van. It was very functional for me, but all the finishing touches/tweaks haven’t been completed. I’m including lots of materials and odds and ends – headliner material for covering the columns, latches, Velcro, magnets, etc.
Currently the van sleeps one in a fixed east/west twin. The length of the bed is about 70”, but the head and foot are soft (insulation and curtains), and someone who’s 6’ tall has slept there comfortably. The width can be extended to sleep two.
The refrigerator has worked perfectly. I use the smaller compartment as a freezer (or a colder section) and the larger side as a fridge. I have it plugged in to both electrical systems (AC and DC), and it runs on 12v unless I’m plugged into shore power or switch the control box to 110. I don’t cook much on the road, but there’s a built-in toaster oven/fryer, electric kettle and I bring my instant pot along.
The Cuddy toilet worked great, and I just slid it under the counter. Could also store under the bed.
All the components can easily be removed or modified. The bench seat is bolted to the floor (and the seat belts were professionally installed). The lower cabinets are also just bolted to the floor. The bed is built of several open box cabinets that can be rearranged (and have been several times). If you wanted to fit a shower in, you could remove the bench seat. I kept a small foldable bike in the garage. I WOULD BE WILLING TO INCLUDE THIS BIKE IN THE SALE.
I’m the second owner of this van. The original owner backed into a post and dented the rear door, which hasn’t affected the function at all. It has been regularly and thoroughly maintained since.
