Will entertain any reasonable offer.
It started out as a Augusta Hostshot Crew carrier for the U.S.F.S. Built by Boise Mobile Equipment, which is the Premiere Wildland Fire Truck Builder. These Fire Trucks are called Buggies within the agency.
The original cost new was $250.000. It was designed to carry 10 Firefighters with all their tools, gear, water, food and personal belongings completely self-sustaining for up to 2 weeks.
I used to be a Hotshot for a few different crews and have lived 6 months a year out of these for 6 years. I always thought they would be perfect to make into a camper.
I spent 2 years finding and bidding on this specific model and engine type that I learned through experience was the most reliable. It is only 2 wheel drive. But that said the places we drove these in the Forest Service I would not be comfortable taking my family. As for snow I drive it year round. It starts having difficulty around 2 feet. The few times I had to put chains on it, it was only on the front wheels to help steer. That said the only upgrade I would add to it is some treaded tires up front. Long story short these are extremely capable on and off road vehicles.
There are 3 massive batteries that it was originally designed with. I have run the lights and charged devices while camping up to 5 days and have never run down the batteries.
