This is my third Promaster camper van build that I’m selling – Miles Van Camper v3. It’s a 2018 Ram Promaster, 159″ wheel base, non-extended camper van.
The van currently has 14,440 miles and has been very well maintained. It was purchased brand-new in the summer of 2019 so there are about two years left on the factory drivetrain warranty (5 years/60,000 miles). It expires in July of 2024.
It was converted in the summer of 2019 and used as my personal van since then. I’m selling because I now have a web store for camper van parts, so I needed to build out my fourth van as a showcase for all those things :)
Everything on this van was carefully thought out and the design/engineering was informed by the first two versions. I’m not a professional van builder, but I’m very knowledgeable as a result of my long history with camper vans and, now my business, Vanlife Outfitters. This experience can be seen and experienced in Miles Van Camper! It’s a truly awesome build that is highly functional both on grid or off grid.
Miles Van Camper has a clean and elegant layout that’s often compared to a cosmopolitan apartment but he’s ready for the open roads, mountains and beaches. Only the best materials were used and you can tell the quality when you travel in or drive the van. There are no squeaks or rattles and everything “just works” as you would expect. It’s truly a pleasure to travel in this van!** Note that the video I’ve linked to is for “version 2” of my Miles Van Camper layout. This van is “version 3”. It’s nearly identical except for the model year of the van and the electrical system. **A few more photos available here:

Comfort / Safety / Convenience
Full indoor shower with flexible shower head with integrated soap and shampoo dispensers, waterproof toilet paper holder and mirror.
Outdoor shower off the rear doors with hot and cold water.
CR Laurence “t-vent” window installed on the slider door which can be left open in the rain.
Two Motion windows with screened openings installed into each rear cargo door.
Coleman Mach 8 Cub 9200 BTU rooftop air conditioner located in the front living space. This unit can run off the inverter off grid for short periods of time.
Webasto Air Top 2000 STC gasoline-powered heater that runs off the van’s fuel tank.
Both the driver and passenger seats have CTA swivels so they can be turned around to extend the living space into the cab area.
Maxxfan deluxe vent fan located over the bed area.
Combination propane gas and carbon monoxide detector.
Fixed full size memory foam bed in loft area
Isotemp Spa 20L marine-style, 5.3 gallon water heater that heats water while you drive with the engine’s coolant. It’s very well insulated and keeps the water at temperature for a long time. When you’re not driving, it has a 750 watt electric heating element that runs off the inverter and is controlled by a switch in the galley. The water is heated to up to 190 degrees in the tank and then mixed with cold water to a specified temperature when leaving the tank. This extends the 5.3 gallon capacity significantly and speeds up recovery time.
Thetford “cassette-style” toilet in the wet bath provides odor free convenience without the need for a black water tank. Cassette empties easily into a standard toilet, campsite sewer connection, etc.
Extensive LED lighting with dimmers.
Extensive noise dampening (Noico) and insulation (3M Thinsulate) for quiet ride and to keep the van cool or warm in any climate.
Easy-to-use and clean roller shades on the rear windows provide privacy and light control while virtually disappearing when not in use.
Galley
Stainless-steel, two-burner propane stove and sink. The stove runs off the ubiquitous 1 pound propane bottle that can be found just about anywhere. It’s highly efficient so even a small bottle of propane lasts many weeks and you can keep a few around.
Pull-out faucet with standard or spray pattern.
Quartz countertops.
Tons of storage and ample counter space with deep 24″ drawers.
Spacious refrigerator with separate freezer (Vitrifrigo DP-150) – 4.3 cubic feet refrigerator space and 1 cubic foot freezer space.
DeLonghi espresso maker (runs perfectly off inverter).
Lagun table system with stainless steel surface swivels over the galley when not in use or can be positioned as an extra work surface for the galley or working/eating surface with the swiveled cab seats.
Integrated paper towel dispenser, trash and recycling bins and intelligent storage.
Utilities
33 gallon fresh water tank with gravity drain underneath driver’s side bumper.
30 gallon grey holding tank with standard 3″ connection – mounted underneath passenger side sliding door.
Lockable fresh water fill and city water inlet on drivers side.
Fresh water tank and all plumbing installed inside the vehicle to protect from damage and freezing for all-season camping.
SeeLevel 2 tank monitor provides easy-to-read tank capacity information for fresh water and grey water tanks. Monitor also allows turning on/off the water pump.
Curt class 3 hitch with 2″ receiver (6000 lb tow capacity, 600 lb tongue weight) and standard 4-pin and 6-pin trailer connections.
WeBoost cellular booster with phone cradle. This really helps pull in cell signals in locations with marginal service – just put your phone in the cradle to receive the boot.
Pre-wired/set up for Visible mobile internet service as detailed in this blog post. The router/etc. could be used with other carriers as well.
Electrical System
2x 100 amp hour Renogy lithium batteries for a total of 200 amp hours of capacity (can be upgraded – please see note above)
2x 100 watt Renogy solar panels on the roof with a 30 amp MPPT solar controller.
2000 watt Renogy pure sine wave inverter/charger with 4000 watt surge capacity and transfer switch that automatically switches 110 volt AC loads from inverter to shore power when available.
30 amp shore power inlet with 30amp to 15amp adapter when 30 amp service is not available.
Progressive Dynamics load center with 5x 110 volt AC circuit breakers and 12x, 12 volt DC fused circuits.
Three distinct charging methods to keep the batteries charged up: from vehicle alternator when driving (via a Renogy 60 amp DC to DC charger), from the inverter/charger when connected to shore power and from the solar panels during daylight hours.
Victron BMV-712 battery monitor shows state of charge, voltage, charge/discharge rate in amps and watts and estimated battery life in hours with bluetooth capability.
Lots of 110 volt AC, 12 volt DC and USB charging connections in various places throughout the living space to power everything you need.
I had the van weighed with all my stuff in there, a full water tank, two people and a dog and it weighed in at 8,020 pounds. The GVW on the Promaster 159 is 8,900 pounds so there is plenty of additional capacity – even with a heavy/full van!
