Meet Bertha! A hard charging 4×4 Sprinter with everything for your next adventure. This is a high-quality build, designed specifically for surfing and playing in the mountains. My wife and I built this van with a ton of thought and care, and maintained it as if I were going to keep her forever. All of the important components including building materials are of the highest quality or industry standards.

5k-7k oil changes with best German oil, 20k fuel filter (2), 20k brake fluid flush(2), mostly highway miles, transmission and rear differential service done around 40k miles. Front brake pads were replaced recently. I did 99% of the work on this van build and know it inside and out. Please reach out with any questions.

The layout of the van is centered around 2 features:

1. The internal compartment is large enough to hold 2 long surfboards (up to 9’8 or so)
2. The fixed bed platform with a large garage under it tall enough for 29’er mountain bikes. The garage has a tray that extends out for easy access.

High quality materials—

The van is framed with 80/20 aluminum extrusions. 1.5” going across the width of the van below the bed platform, and 1” for the bench and countertop.

The lumber for the studs, bed platform, bench, and countertop is the best quality baltic birch plywood. Walls are 1/4” cedar.

The van is well insulated: 3M thinsulate for walls, high R-value polyiso board for the ceiling, 2 layers of minicell foam for floors, sound deadener matting all over.

The kitchen drawer slides are made by Blum.
