Hi Craigslist Friends!
I’m here to introduce you to an absolute beast of a roadtripper – Ordi. This 2017 Mercedes Sprinter isn’t just a van; it’s an off-road and snow capable adventure companion that you can throw anything you want in and go! No planning where you’re going to go or sleep. Just hit the road, stop whenever you feel like it (safely) and hop into the queen bed in the back.
Let’s start inside, where you’ll find comfort and utility alike. I built this out to be the most practical and get the most utility out of the space possible, without sacrificing comfort:
Electrical:
It’s got a full blown 400 amp hour electrical system with both DC and AC power with enough juice that you can charge anything you want without worrying about draining them, even if you wanted to, you couldn’t! It also has 400w of solar on the roof to constantly charge the system to keep you going nonstop. It’s also got a shore power attachment JUST in case you need to plugin and charge. Don’t forget the overhead lighting with dimmer switch, some accent lighting that also dim, a full blown diesel heater to keep the van toasty warm in any conditions and a rooftop fan to vent and/or keep the place cool, paired with a 4 speaker + 12 inch sub sound system to keep the good vibes going. Throw in a Dometic fridge/freezer to keep your food fresh and be the campground favorite when you bring out ice cream to the campfire…
Storage:
This is where we excel, you’ve got upper cabinets for clothes (or whatever), a cubby above the driver cockpit for extras, a pantry for food, and entire rear “garage” area for all of your toys or gear! The bed is set high enough that you can fit full sized motorcycles or bicycles underneath it while still sleeping normally, not something I’ve seen before. If you’re a skiier, it’s got a ski rack attached to the inside of the rear door so you can keep them inside, and if you’re a surfer, it’s got bungies under the bed to throw surfboards of any size underneath. This space is good for and can hold literally anything you could ever want to bring on a trip, try me, in the 6 years I’ve been traveling in Ordi I’ve never once had the “dang I really wanted to bring this but it can’t fit” thought.
Comfort:
The bed is a full sized Queen mattress, but also condenses down on itself to half it’s size if you want more space during the day. In the front, the passenger seat swivels around if you want more seating. And if you have a dog or kids the bench seat pulls out into a couch so you’ve got plenty of sleeping options. I’ve comfortably had 4 in there with no problems, though the bench seat has been a designated dog bed while we travel and it’s been amazing for our huskys comfort. I also installed windows in the rear to keep the back cool but also to be able to see out the back when you’re camping. For privacy, I installed blackout blinds that close off the front, as well as window covers for the side and rear windows – you can, and I have, camped in the middle of the city and have all the lights on inside and nobody on the outside would ever know you’re there. Add in vinyl flooring from front to back and unique tongue and groove wood panelling along the side walls and roof, you’ll feel like you stepped into another room in your house in here.
Food/Water:
We’ve always used a camp stove so that we have the option to cook outside, we never wanted the but there is a countertop space if you want/need to cook inside. Our water system has consisted of two 5 gallon jugs just for convenience, but I’d consider building in a cabinet with sink if you wanted it for the right buyer.
Now, to the exterior:
It’s built, but minimal. I added a side step to make getting into the van easier which was useful even back when I was a 25 year old with good knees, and a rear ladder to make getting up to the solar easier (rare), though unfortunately it was stolen off the back while I was hiking in Death Valley, rude. It’s also got 17inch Method wheels with brand NEW All Terrain tires, I literally just replaced them before listing it. Others have been mentioned already including the rooftop fan, solar panels and rear windows.
Motor and Maintenance:
I bought Ordi brand new from the dealer and have been the only owner. I have babied this to keep it going well past 500k miles and have purposely kept the motor stock as well as keeping my conversion completely separate from the Mercedes system so there is no risk of any kind of problem. I’ve had all regular interval services done through Mercedes dealers, and just recently FULLY replaced the AC system (apparently these can go out over time), NEW tires, PLUS I just had it’s next big mileage service done along and a few other internals that most won’t care about, but means you won’t have to pay for any service for quite some time.
The conversion has transformed this once blank box van into something truly unique.
With roughly 106k miles, no accidents, and one very careful owner (that’s me!), this Sprinter is ready to go.
Priced at $80,000 and ready to go.
If you’re still not sold, just read through the reviews I’ve gotten from people that have rented the van to take trips in. You’ll want to get on the road in this thing ASAP!
To be honest: I’m not eager to part ways with Ordi, but I was in a life altering motorcycle accident a few years ago and can no longer partake in a lot of these activities that I built it for, so it’s time for me to downsize.
So if you’re ready to embark on the next chapter of your driving life with a Sprinter that’s the perfect combination of comfort, utility, and personality, reach out & come check it out!
*Note: All services have been professionally done and I’ve got all the receipts to prove it and can provide further details for serious buyers. Additionally, I’m happy to provide a few free upgrades in the sale that I bought but haven’t installed yet.
