The Nissan NV (Nissan Van) is a full-size van produced by Nissan from 2011 to 2021. It was developed and marketed for the United States and Canada, where Nissan had not previously been present in the full-size segment. Until the introduction of the Nissan NV, Mexico was the only country in North America selling a full-size Nissan van.The NV used the same F-Alpha platform as does the Nissan Titan full-size pickup, but due to the need for a flat loading floor it is highly modified and they end up sharing powertrain and suspension pieces. This particular NV3500 HD was the heaviest weight class offered, and was only available with the large 5.6-liter/ 350 cu. in. V8 engine with either a low or a high roof. This V8 engine ( shared with the Nissan Titan pick-up) outputs 375 hp (280 kW) and 387 lbs⋅ft (525 Nm) of torque. It has a 5-speed automatic transmission and is REAR wheel drive. Payload capacity is 3,925 lb . It came in S, SV, or SL trim levels and was available in low or high roof; the SL was only available with the V8. The SL trim featured a lockable center console with power outlets as well as an additional 120 V outlet in the cargo compartment. This van came in the “SL” trim which featured chrome bumpers, grille, mirrors and door handles. It features power drivers seat, windows, door locks. This van began its life as a “fleet” delivery van for a small business in Washington State. We purchased as a bare van with steel mesh bulkhead between driver/passenger compartment and rear cargo area. Cargo area was absolutely immaculate. Not a scratch or scuff. Before we purchased, this van was obviously VERY lightly used. It was a leased van turned into the Nissan dealership after the lease expired. We purchased with 30,000 miles. In 2020, Nissan reevaluated its commercial van business in North America, and decided to replace it with a “Business Advantage” program for its other vehicles. Production of the NV full-size vans ended in the middle of 2021, with sales continuing through the end of the year.
These Nissan NV vans remained virtually unchanged from 2011 to 2021. These vans were manufactured at Nissan’s USA North American plant in Canton, Mississippi.

Rear Interior: Sleeping/Workspace/Cooking/Storage
Design Intent was simple…Lightweight, maximize every inch of space, ample secure storage, low maintenance. Clean And Simple.
Build was intended to carry two bikes securely inside: stealth, out of the elements, under the sleeping platform. Two additional bike mounts on rear barn doors…Secured by locking fork mounts and stainless steel shackles to secure additional cables and locks. No exterior hitch mount bike rack needed. Four bikes: two inside, two outside. Bikes inside are mounted on an extremely lightweight “ladder” aluminum slide out “tray.” Bikes simply slide in and out below the sleeping platform allowing for easy access, loading and unloading. Simply compress your dropper seatpost and even large frames/29”/700c bikes fit easily. Rear wheels are secured to tray via large thumb knobs and aluminum clamps on an adjustable track to accommodate a variety of wheelbases.
Aluminum bed platform is an ample 55” width and 76” in length. When not in use, the front portion of bed platform folds up like a truck tailgate to maximize front work space and safety secure and contain any cargo stored on bed platform from sliding forward. 2 individual sets of 4” memory foam “tri-fold” cushions (folded/stored/strapped against wall-when not in use) complete the bed…And fold-up to allow for unrestricted use of bed-area for gear storage during transit. Aluminum bed platform is also a foldable “tri-fold” configuration robustly mounted to van walls via “i” track. Bed can be folded up and secured to van wall if needed…To open up cargo area for transport of large objects. Even with the bed deployed…This van can carry 4’x8’ sheets of plywood, drywall, etc. Also, objects up to 10 feet in length (like lumber) can easily fit, utilizing the bed platform and above-driver’s-cab storage area.
There are a total of five windows in rear cabin…Two OEM fixed window on the rear doors. Sliding door features two windows…One CRL 40” wide x 18” tall with twin lower windows that cantilever out via two adjusting nobs…And a second upper 34” x 12” slider. Driver side area opposite sliding door features and identical CRL 40” x 18” twin-cantilever window. All CRL windows in the van feature dark tint and removable screens.
There is a “bulkhead” wall separating the cab from rear cargo area. This allows for total privacy and no need for “black-out” curtains for stealth camping. Van cab and rear cargo area are completely separate…And allow for minimizing heat and cold from the front windshield and windows entering the “living” area in back. The bulkhead wall also features an ample 4 1/2 foot wide x 3 foot deep and 20” tall storage platform area located on top/above driver/passenger. This storage area is secured by a quick-release cargo net- used to replace pick-up truck tailgates. Bulkhead features two lower sliding cabinet doors: 26” wide x 15” tall…Which allow access and stowage areas behind both driver and passenger seats. There is also a “pass-thru” marine grade “porthole.” Also featured on the bulkhead wall are:
Quick-release fold down aluminum table w/ polyethylene cutting board top.
Fold down chair secured with Quick-Pin.
Two mesh storage pockets.
Two CNC Lidaretts front wheel holders. These allow for mounting bicycle front wheels against bulkhead, wall out of the way.
Two fold up aluminum clothing “hooks”.
Unique quick-release mount for Mr Heater portable propane heater. This mount safely and securely holds Mr Heater from any possibility of tipping over while still offering easy access and replacement of 16oz “green propane bottles.
Above the Mr Heater is a RAAM Mounted, USB powered fan to efficiently distribute warm air from heater throughout the entire back of the van.
Quick-release foldable trashcan
Cargo Area Storage Cabinets: Water, Battery, Generator
On either side of van there are large storage cabinets around/above the rear wheel wells. Driver side is the largest at a massive 71” long, 20” wide and 20” deep (10” depth over wheel well). It features interior led lighting and soft close doors. The front section contains a 5 gallon BPA Free Food Grade water container with easy-fill 70mm cap, quick-release hose and 12v pump. Separate rear section of this floor cabinet houses a Honda EU 2000 gas generator on slide out tray (accessed with rear doors open).
On passenger side floor cabinet is 67” long x 12” wide and 11” deep. It also features interior LED lighting. Front section discretely houses the 10 lbs Flame King propane tank. This tank is fully DOT Certified. Cabinet is vented and features unique waterproof “port” so a propane house may run outside to fuel a BBQ or fire pit. Rear separate section of cabinet is used to house the UPG Universal Power Group 12V 100Ah Solar Wind AGM SLA Deep Cycle VRLA Battery and fuse panel. Battery is kept charged via a WirthCo 20090 Battery Doctor 100 Amp Battery Isolator located in the engine compartment. It runs between the engine alternator and the house battery to keep the battery fully charged. Rain or shine the Battery Doctor has kept our house battery functioning flawlessly. Since all the van outlets and devices we use are USB…And all lighting is low-voltage LED, the van can go “off-grid” for several days. Once low, we simply either drive the van to our next camp spot…Or run the van for 15 minutes to fully charge the battery. Even with housing water, propane, Honda generator and battery, these cabinets hold a massive amount of gear….Securely and out of sight.
