Up for sale is my customized 2010 Mercedez Sprinter, fully decked out for any adventure either for weekend warriors or full-timers alike. I never imagined selling this one but with an unplanned newborn baby, this thing won’t be getting use for the next few years.
Fully self-sustaining vanlife ready, solar custom camper buildout similar to a revel or promaster or ford transit. Total of 650w of solar and 475ah of battery with cooling system and heated water/shower. Toilet, sink, dinette, dog bed/lounge, kitchen, tons of storage, workstation, water system, and lots of road + adventure-ready accessories and mods.
This is my fourth custom van build out over the past 5 years and definitely the cleanest with the most amenities. 160K miles might seem high at first glance but remember this is a v6 diesel that are known to go 350k+. The engine and drive-train are top notch as I just recently (within 1k miles) had everything replaced that could go wrong over the next 100k+ miles. Knowing it will be going to market, I had Sprinter Pitstop in Miramar give me the works. $12k later, this beast should be good to go with warranty work. I can provide all documentation upon vehicle inspection.
ABOUT THE BUILD
----------
The build was intended to be everything one needs to live in full time or for long extended road trips. The whole thing is triple insulated using 1” fiber board as well as cotton batts along with reflectix and spray foam for all of the nooks and crannies. Butyl mats throughout for sound deadening. Its dead quiet back there. No waking up from loud neighbors or trucks at the truck stop. I wanted this to stay cool enough in 100 degree temps and warm enough in 0 degree temps. Ive done both many times including -15 in Jackson no problem, without any heaters.
I also wanted the bed are to be spacious without needing to watch your head for cabinets or worry about not being able to sit up in bed with a ceiling lingering close by. Anti-clostrophobia. Thats why the cabinets are above the drivers bay and there is ample room for storage under the dinette and in the back. The back storage compartment meets the dinette compartment meaning there is storage most of the length of the van to fit long items like a longboard surfboard.
The dinette is a nice feature for eating and hanging out, where i get all my work done, or two can get their work done. If entertaining, the table can be removed where the toilet contain fits perfect between the two seats to act as a little lounge area. I also wanted this to double as a dog bed or bed for a kid. Some may opt to keep the arrangement this way. The lagun table can also be placed in the back for an additional place to work in the bed area.
This also has all the power you need. Given the three systems you can monitor them individually and better understand consumption. The lithium can power all of the high-energy kitchen stuff. I dont end up using it often. The 12v system is a great amount of battery for the essentials like lights, fans and fridge. The goal zero system is backup but also great to have when camping to bring out to the table. I usually end up plugging in all of our phones and devices into this while driving and as long as its plugged into solar, it never empties.
The system was designed for comfort too. The high powered duct fan brings cool air from the driver bay at night into the rear keeping it cool during the summer. This with the ceiling van venting out and the side windows open, theres some really good airflow. The diesel heater is installed but its giving me an error. I think its not getting enough fuel but I haven’t had time to troubleshoot this one yet. Hopefully this will be fixed by the time this lists. This is the newest addition and I havent gotten to it with the kid being born 8 weeks ago. The water can be heated for the shower or sink. Its electric and runs off the inverter so there is no worry about a gas or propane heater with fumes and safety concerns. The fan at the dinette ensures you are comfortable while working.
The privacy is big on this one too. With all of the insulation, sound deadening, blackout curtains and cabin divider, you can completely cut out the outside world. Ive slept on major streets without ever waking up to horns and sirens.
The design is nice and clean and modern with full wood slats throughout the interior and a floating style ceiling with surrounding LED for a nice look and ambiance at night. Its all wood/black/grey themed. The slats are not yet stained as I didnt want to do that work before selling seeing as though the buyer might want to add their own touch or stain color. Or just leave it natural. The wife liked it natural, hence the hesitance there.
The kitchen is small but when needed, it can be opened up to provide for lots of counter space. There are two wood table. top that can fold up for a 180 degree counter/cooking station. There is also a ton of accessible storage from the kitchen…above the driver bay to the left, above the fridge to the left, a drawer and cabinet below the sing and the cabinet above the bed to the right.
The only bad things I can truly say about this at the moment:
Heater doesnt work yet
Some small finishing pieces that aren't finished yet or could be improved upon. This is mostly just moulding in a couple places that probably aren't recognizable to someone who hadn't slaved away on this build for 500+ hours of labor and planning.
